You shouldn't have to replace in the .rar. If it shares the same GUID, putting it in your USER_OEM folder will cuase it to be used preferentially (you'll have to remember to remove it from user_oem when ppcgeeks_oem.rar is updated).

Unless your like me and the kitchen will not allow you to remove user OEMs without crashing.
