Linux/Android working on Titan

I have successfully booted Android Linux using the files supplied here http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/

credit goes to dzo

Android boots, The touch screen works. You can make phone calls. You can browse the internet.

This will NOT mess up your phone. It runs from ram and there are no permanent changes.

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

the only button that I can get to work is the power button. The end(hangup) button works to close some programs.

Note both buttons work randomly.

We can see it in early stat. This is BIG good news for us.

I got the same error when using my HC card. I switched to my normal card and it works fine. The touch screen support is nice, but a bit buggy. This is a sign of good things to come!

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

Not sure if it is the HC part.. Worked from 4G SDHC..
Very early alpha, but nonetheless, there are many people waiting for it.

dzo is officially a god. Going through the painstakingly LONG process of copying everything to my card right now. lol

I am in the same boat as you and also running DCD 3.2.2. I tried using my 2 GB (non HC) San Disk card. I tried with all 6 files from the zip on the card, and then also with zImage, default.txt, haret-0.5.1.exe and initrd.gzdirectly on my device. No luck. It may be the build that DCD used.

If you have an active data connection in windows mobile, don't worry about your default.txt. I found this out when I had a Vogue. Hit the camera key for keyboard.

EtherealRemnant 07-15-2008 01:37 AM

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

I know this but the camera key doesn't bring up the keyboard in the browser. At least it didn't when I tried it. Maybe its hit or miss? I tried it a few times and it brings it up outside the browser but not in the browser.

I just booted up now and I see what your saying. It was a little different when I had the Vogue. I'll take what I can get for now :-p

FYI for anyone who is curious I have a 512MB Sandisk formatted FAT32 and is confirmed WORKING

Ive tried DCDs ROM, No2Chems pre5, No2Chems 5067k, made own with nothing in it and still cant get android to boot. I also formatted the SD card myself with no luck. Files on storage card and files on device.....I get to the cyclone but it never goes any further. Every now and again while the red cyclone is doing its thing I can press the camera key (I think) and keyboard pops up at the top but the cyclone eye keeps spinning. Anyone got any ideas or thoughts?

I have this running on my Mogul - DCD 3.2.0.

I have evrerything up and running only the touch responce seems to be way off, able to close apps by pressing the 'end call' button twice, able to bring up the onscreen keyboard using the camera button BUT keyboard will not type, just flickers, anyone get the keyboard to actually type?

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

OK, using NueRom 2.2 Pre7, and a 6gb SDHC card.

I have the IMG files in the root of the Storage Card
all other files on the Device\Android directory

I get the error loading the SD card partition, and halts the loading at the command prompt.

Could it be a formatting issue? is 6GB too large?

What size card are you using? Have you tried formatting FAT32?

Hmm... the cyclone is the red dot that bounces back and forth. Did everyone download the zip and not the files individualy? Are there any other files on your card?

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

Yep. That's where I am.

Unzip the entire zip file to the ROOT of your storage card, NOT a folder, and try running HaRET from there.

Its working great for me (great is subjective of course) on no2chem's 5070 Pre-7.

MrTek 07-15-2008 01:09 PM

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

I unzipped everything to my SDcard root, and I get this error:

"mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /Sdcard failed: No Such device or address"
"Failed to Mount SD Card"

So it can't mount the storage card. Could this be due to the Service that lets you choose how to mount the SD card in WinMo as Removable Media or Active Sync?

I only have a single partition on the device SD card.

EtherealRemnant 07-15-2008 01:16 PM

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

reboot your phone and try again. Sometimes no2chem's SD driver can be a bit slow.

MrTek 07-15-2008 01:43 PM

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

Ethereal,

So you were having the same issue, that multi-reboots resolved?

I don't want to keep rebooting this thing, if it's not been proven to work :)

thanks,

Jef

EtherealRemnant 07-15-2008 01:54 PM

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

I've had issues with no2chem's SD driver before that required a soft reset before the SD started working properly. I'm not talking about a hard reset, just a soft reset.

MrTek 07-15-2008 02:51 PM

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

Apparently, this only is supported on SDcards, not SDHC cards at this time. :(

jp2307 07-15-2008 03:13 PM

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

Looks Like you are right, I tried with my 4GB SDHC card and got the error. now i tried a 2 GB SD card (not HC) and guess what ...IT WORKS!!!!! COOL!!

Now let's go back to usage..... It is cool, but it works really badly... Don't get me wrong.... Thanks for all the effort...and you guys are moving to the right direction, but I cannot use Google since there is no keyboard, my contacts...well can't add any, it basically works to make and receive calls.

BUT IT IS STILL VERY COOL.... I was able to boot it... just that is priceless... Keep up the wonderful work and give us new updates every time you can.

Thanks once more!!!=D>=D>=D>=D>=D>

Why? I know that I have like 3 of those damn 512MB cards lying around that actually came with my various devices... seriously, its not that hard to get ahold of a non-SDHC card.
