Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
For those using a microSDHC card like I am, I found a way to get an otherwise incompatible card to work (at least for me).
Put these files on the root of your device memory: default.txt / haret.exe / initrd.gz / zImage Put these files in the root of your card: data.gz / system.img Works perfectly for me. |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
I can't get Android to boot w/ my 2GB non-HC SD card. First I unzipped all the files to the root of the card, tried booting, got the "cannot mount SD card" errors. I reformatted the card and tried again.. same thing. I then tried CrashCore's suggestion to move certain files to device room and certain to SD root.. still nothing.
Then i tried unzipping the initrd.gz to initrd, and changing default.txt to point to initrd.. still no luck. I've tried every step I've read in these Android threads, could it just be that it doesn't like my card, and I need to use another? I've never had any issues w/ this card before (flashing roms, radios etc.) until now :-/ |

While watching the College Bball Championship (Go Heels! Die hard fan here) I FINALLY got android to boot. I messed with it and then reset the device to load it again. I try to load it, and the power management issue pops up, every...single...time. NOW, i get to the part where its stuck and sends me to to command prompt: HTML Code:
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off HTML Code:
set MTYPE 1463 |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
mines boots every time on my titan..mostly works well.. but some programs do crash / lockup i suppose due to low memory available.
- opera works very nice - market doesn't seem to download app.. but Sam2 works fine HTML Code:

no it has the
set MTYPE 1463 set KERNEL zImage at the beginning. otherwise that is it. |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Man, I still cannot get Android to load on my Titan. I'm running the Titan Reloaded 1.4b2 rom if that makes a diff. I've tried putting the files in every place mentioned and it ALWAYS hangs on the "cannot mount sd card" error. At this point, it's got to be my SD card, even tho it's 2GB non-HC card. Cuz from what I'm seeing, it should just work - or work after a couple of tries - it's NEVER worked for me. Anyone else agree its the card?
|
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
it definately sounds like its your card.
i have all files on the storage card (inside NO folder). then i shortcut the haret.exe to my device just to keep from having to manuever through file explorer. |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
new symptom:
Code:
warning: 'rild' uses 32-bit compatibilities (legacy support in use) I've unzipped the data.img file. Fixed my first problem. Now this comes up. This is obviously a modem issue because it has this when the problem persists: Code:
A N D R O I D Also: No username + No Password Username but no password Vice Versa Disabling Titanium, 23MB of Mem free EDIT::::GOT IT WORKING!!!!:-D extracted data.gz to data.img and ran it. runs every time. now looking for ways to answer my calls ...hmmmm |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
It's stable but still unstable...
Anyone working on issues such as: Button lights constantly on Unlocking the phone you must slide keyboard and press the ok button correct button mapping (maybe the power button can be a suspend button?) Somehow being able to answer a call since the hardware buttons are s#!t Just a thought, anyone seen any of these fixes, i have the latest files... |

my boot hangs EXACTLY where ^thvoicwethin^ does/did. I extracted data.gz to data.img as you did, but I still end up here. I haven't touched my default.txt aside from entering in the ppp.username + ppp.password, but I've tried w/ them blank as well. Do I need to make any changes to it for a Verizon XV6800? I'm almost there.... any thoughts?! ](*,) EDIT: Just tried changing set MTYPE 1667 to set MTYPE 1463 as I've seen in other posts.. It gets two more lines down and then BAM.. reboot! Back to 1667 and still freezes. Anyone? |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
when you say two more lines....can you tell me what they say?

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Alright further and further I go.. I figured out that I hadn't gone back to try Magister's version since the SDcard trickery.. I wiped the card, uploaded Magister's version titan-full-23.03.2009, and fired it up. It got further, and the a BUNCH of IO errors.. but I let it sit and it got to the "flashing Android guy" screen, then booted up and now I'm IN!!! So is Magister's version the ONLY confirmed working version on the Titan? I know the other site http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/ has a bunch of version (the ones I was trying), but could never get 'em to boot. Are they Vogue-only?
Outgoing calls worked fine, haven't tested incoming yet. Every time I go to "Messaging" I get this error: "Sorry! The application "Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. " I notice that this version is really old (1.0), cupcake 1.5 is out recently, but 1.1 has been out for a awhile now too. Are there any newer versions that work on the Titan? |

Thanks to everyone for all the hard work. I've played around a bit and think I want my next phone to be an Android phone. I had already been playing w/ the Emulator on my Linux box and Android has so much potential. Hopefully we'll get some newer versions on the Titan to play with until its time to upgrade. |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Please, don't forget to thank those who have helped. Not being mean or anything, but we give you these solutions because we're trying to resolve your problems and fix them.
Yes, you can get the newer version. I have 1.1 loaded now on my mogul now, no problems whatsoever, except for the ones i listed a few posts above |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Sorry man, you were included in that thank you but... thank specifically for all of your help as well, i appreciate it!
How can i get 1.1 loaded? The only version that's booted for me so far is the 1.0. |

I can upload my 1.1 for you that works on my Mogul, I'll give you everything you need to get it going... |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Ahhh.. yea I'm a bit new here, I'll keep that in mind from now on.
Thanks, I appreciate you uploading! |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Here is my WORKING Android 1.1 for the Titan/Mogul.
Android-Mogul.rar PM me for the password, and remember to click thanks after downloading, I keep close tabs on the download to thanks ratio. Simply put everything BUT data.img and system.img on your my docs folder on your ppc. The other two files should stay on your mem card. Run haret.exe and click RUN, make sure your internet connection is active BEFORE running haret to insure you get internet while using Android. ( I don't use internet on Android so I don't know how to fix the internet thing if your having problems) I am using the Android 1.1 version from this website: http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/ No credit goes to me for the making of this software to be able to load Android on your ppc. I am simply posting a working Android Rar so that you don't have problems loading it. |

Lovin' it, everything works well so far. Of course I don't expect performance to be great, but it's actually pretty decent. If the battery life was a bit better, I'd prolly rock it full time!

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Anyone have opera mini 4.2 apk that I can install? I've searched and can't find it ANYWHERE. I found 4.0 but it crashes on the "Installing" screen right after you fire it up. I miss my Opera Mini!
|
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
I found the 4.2 apk, but it doesn't run. I tap it, it starts to draw the windows, and then just bombs out. Do I have to delete a directory or something to get rid of the old versions, and if so.. where? TIA
|
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Hint: You can also edit posts when the subject is the same....it's also on the lower right of your post. ;-)
Will search for Opera |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
so the actual android apps will work on this? im gonna start collecting the ones i can find while i wait for an answer.
so not having any idea how to make them work, how do i install them? |
Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
make a folder on your SD cards called "AndroidApps" exactly as i have put it, without the quotations of course...put your apks in there and boot up.
