I have the same set up, kind of spotty. There are times when it is super quick and other times it takes a while. I have seen regular GPS units take a while or give the wrong location at times, too. I work for FD and commercial ambulance service and run into many co-workers who have Regular GPS units. Today was very hot, hazy and humid. Couldn't get a lock to save my life (or that of a patient). I think that with hazy humid days effects the radio waves in general, I could be wrong, but probably should research that.

Try GPS Toggle. I put it on my phone and it locks pretty quick for me. It is a today screen app that you just click the GPS on/off.
