yeah i already got the stock rom and radio ready to go on this when i get the new one ..... when i made my custom kitchen, i set the carrier as verizon, but i never installed the verizon carrier cab? would that have anything to do with it ... i mean, i wouldnt think so because everything on the phone works, and even the internet would work for a few hours ... but just a thought, seems to be the only thing i possibly could have left out while flashing

thanks for your help

If you use a dcd ROM you HAVE to install the carrier cab or you will notice the same types of issues (or no connectivity at all). Actually, I had similar problems even with a no2chem ROM too... dcd's carrier cab usually solves any connectivity problems you might have on custom ROMs... his you NEED it... others, it's still good to run it in my experience.

1) install nueSPL (unlock the phone) http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd118...ueSPL-2.47.rar
- extract .exe from RAR and copy to your phone... have an SD card ready... the installer will detect that it is formatted properly or give you the option to format it. this is a good first step because you can use that card for step #2 once you're done.
2) install the newest radio (3.42.30)
http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/titan/radios/Titan%20Radio%20ROM%203.42.30.rar
- extract the NBH from the RAR and copy it to the ROOT of your SD card
- rename the RUU_signed.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
(note: file I extracted is already named "TITAIMG.nbh" just move it to ROOT directory of SD card, keep in mind that you may be over writing a file with the same name from the process in the first step, it's ok, do it. Getting the file there, I used the adapter and a card reader to put the files in the root directory because during the process at some point, the phone doesn't boot up all the way, don't be scared, I was initially, lots of reading and persistance, now have verizon xv6800 with GPS) <--- observed by rchittenden
- reboot the phone into "flash mode" (hold camera + power + pinhole reset with stylus)
- it should detect the ROM at this point, just follow the instructions.
3) flash a custom ROM (dcd has the most recent stable release)
http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd118...itan_3.2.2.exe
(note: the above file when saved initially to your harddrive, is the "dcd titan 3.2.2.exe file. Little trick here... go to "portableapps.com" and click on "applications" in the title bar. Once there, click on "utilities" in the left column. Download for your personal use on your computer the "7-zip" portable application. Run the application on your computer and go to where you downloaded "dcd titan 3.2.2.exe". Believe it or not, you can extract the files inbedded here. All you need is the "RUU_signed.nbh" the file is approx. 50M. What I did was, removed the SD Chip and put it into an adapter on my card reader and removed the "TITAIMG.nbh file from the root directory from the previous step. Move "RUU_signed.nbh" to the root of SD and rename to "TITAIMG.nbh". Put the SD Chip back into the phone and turn it on and it will freeze (mine did) while booting, go into bootloader and follow the prompts. You will now be installing the OS.)
- if you use dcd make sure you install the carrier cab after your first boot: http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd118...2020080706.cab
- only other "stable" and current rom for the titan right now is NexVision's that I know of.. it's really up to you which ROM you flash... dcd is known for his "clean" roms so you start with a nice BASE and you install whatever apps you want... no2chem's current releases are still in testing so it's up to you if you want to sort through the misc bugs as he releases new versions.

Oh, you might also want to install MMS as well if you go with any of these... Verizon luckily you can still use Arcsoft so you can use the cab found in this thread to add MMS after you're booted up:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404345

I used the above files with the added steps written in bold above, figure I would save you the headache when the phone doesn't boot, what to expect. Now do a search on "forum.ppcgeeks.com" for more gps setups and you will see other setups as far as setting to COM4 (already comes that way) and enabling GPS to Location on. Just follow these directions above, the card reader and adapter that came with my sd was a big help. It works. I tried it with microsoft live search (don't forget to go into settings and change to COM 4). It took a little bit to lock on, but when it did, I went for a walk up the street and the arrow followed me.
Lot's of reading, but MOD is worth it. You have to do all 4 MOD's above.

dcd's titan ROM & kitchen 3.2.0 thread:

Other notes... you can obviously use the Sprint ROM to get your radio but then you risk messing some things if up you forget to not allow customizations (can be confusing for 1st timer)... I recommend getting the SD flashing down because it's the easiest way to do things... all radios that come out have been from sprint and usually dcd or someone else rips em out of the sprint release into its own image, but you have to flash with SD card... so might as well get used to it
I added additional notes in the process of above (in blue above) in an attempt to un-NOOBinize the process. It worked for me. Thanks to Zenoran and GA. Medic for trying to simplify, thanks to the developers for sitting at the computer for hours and hours making these things work.

Unhappy Re: XV6800 for Verizon

I didn't see the GPS question addressed too much, so I'll add my take.

GPS on Verizon (with the latest radio/ROMS) is still maddeningly inconsistent. Some have speculated that there is some sort of data portion that verizon isn't supplying. For me, it didn't work a lot more than it did work. So I'd end up staring at the screen for 20 minutes at a time waiting for a 'lock'. Pretty frustrating.

One thing (which may be a skewed perception): The GPS seemed to lock for me much better when I was moving quickly (i.e. driving or on a train) than when I was walking or standing still.

At some point I'd like to have the time to revisit this topic, because when this works it's way cool. But it rarely works.

Sprint user reportedly have much better success with GPS than do VZ users.

Re: XV6800 for Verizon

I agree, only got it lock once. Although, haven't been out of the house. I work part time for ambulance company and am going to give it a whirl there. Although, there is some forum here that I am looking for that you can download and install a small gps locking program which supposedly helps with this.

CHeck over @ XDA - there is a fix that GC14 posted that seemed to help my GPS - My initial lock after flashing takes about 2-3 mins - after that I lock in about 20-30 seconds with google maps...

Re: XV6800 for Verizon

Did you extract the RUU_signed.nbh out of the dcd .exe file like I described above or are you trying to load it through your usb connection? The blue type in post number 35 were the steps I did or differences in the steps posted by Zenoran. Being a noob and not up on the exact steps and processes, I put in the stuff that worked for me. Mine worked like a charm. Just takes to long to lock on GPS at times. Going to investigate the post above.
