It would only see it in the root directory, so anywhere else should be safe. Considering I have them elsewhere on my phone and the process went smoothly for me, it's not a problem.

i think this program actually creates the nbh file on the storage card and then uses that to flash the SPL
- thus the requirement of a card.

And it wont see it (to flash any nbh) anywhere but root

Re: nueSPL-2.47

Besides updating the phone ROM what exactly does this program do? I know that DCD did a benchmark report so it seems like it is controlling some, if not all, of the software operations.

Thanks,
tsp

for what it's worth i'll lend my limited knowledge to you....take it with a grain of salt because the Mogul/Titan is my first PPC device and i've just begun learning on my limited spare time....

the spl is similar to your PC's BIOS(Basic Integrated OS)...it basically initiates the hardware so the software can take over and use the hardware and load the real OS....

my guess is, this new spl has unlocked/made available portions of hardware that were previously unavailable....what those hardware/addresses may be is anyones guess except those involved in making it.....which is why i'm here reading this thread....

i would like to know: what this spl gives access to that 2.40 didn't?.....or if my assumption is wrong, how exactly the perfomance was gained?

yerp

Basic Input/Output System, but otherwise correct. My thinking, though, is that instead of unlocking new hardware functionality (unlikely that there's hardware that's not unlocked but could be and somehow integrate well enough to improve performance, but to improve it such a tiny amount), this SPL is simply smaller and lighter, eating up less resources, and improving performance in the process. That or overclocking the system ever so slightly (overclocking such a basic system by even 1Mhz, when taking multipliers into account, could make a difference along the lines of what we saw). But this is why I wanted to know from someone with more technical knowledge of this exact system why this would be.

Re: nueSPL-2.47

if I need to return this phone, will I be able to? Normally I just flash back to the latest official ship rom and return my mogal and everything is fine. Can I just do this after flashing to the nuespl or will I need to return it to the old spl again?

The reason I ask is that I have already gone through 5 moguls already. Gotta love the protection plan.

You can return it with 2.47(they never look at bootloader anyways) or you can flash back original bootoloader...look here:
