Unless you're running a custom ROM already, then this is a pretty major upgrade. 6.1 is nothing to sneeze about. It's a huge improvement in performance, stability, and memory management. So this ROM is quite a bit more than just Sprint TV and threaded SMS (which, incidentally, was a big enough reason for me to upgrade to 6.1 by itself).

That said, I'm not installing this as I'm used to more than it offers and am waiting for no2chem to finish his ROM based off of it.

does the GPS still need to be primed with a program like AstroGPSLauncher for TomTom, iGuidance, or iGO?

When he said "primed", he meant do you still need to run AstroGPSLauncher to get TomTom, iGo, etc. working. (Not Google Maps or Live Search; we know those work out of the box.)

That's why I was asking, what was in there. It's great that it has 6.1, but what does that mean for me? If all it means is .1 added to the name, then why should I care?

So far, I've heard nothing about better memory management. People are saying it seems faster, but that's always the case with a new rom. I mean, really, is there ANY functionality tghat 6.1 adds? I mean, just saying it's 6.1 so it's better doesn't mean much. As far as I know, 6.1 only adds threaded SMS.

I don't have the full breakdown on differences. The only truly beneficial NEW function (not simply improved) I can state is the threaded SMS. But the memory management is something that's been stated in many places, and it's something I can attest to. I don't get a 100th as many out-of-memory errors as I did with 6.0, I don't have to clear my memory anywhere near as much, and performance is definitely better. As well, the newer builds have drastically more memory available than 6.0 or earlier builds of 6.1. I'm sorry, but the fact that it's 6.1 DOES make it better, as it's the refinement of 6.0. They built the OS, released it, then went back and figured out what needed tweaking and did it. I really don't see any logical reason NOT to upgrade, as there's nothing WORSE about it than 6.0. So unless you're extremely resistant to flashing, I don't know why you'd want to avoid upgrading.

Re: New Official Sprint ROM (3.56, radio 3.42.20)

I haven't been able to get iGO8 working without launching it with AstroGPSLauncher. The funny thing is that it won't even start using the regular iGO8 links. It loads all the way to where it says "starting" but the program never fully starts. Works normal with AstroGPS though. Not sure what is going on here. Weird.
