It's the Location Setting, you gotta turn it on.

Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

Please forgive me Shadow and strike that up to newb.

I got it working by the way. I did have all the settings correct as I said. I did a soft reset and that took care of it. I forgot the golden rule with windows problems....When having a problem the first thing you do is reboot!

I now am locking on quickly indoors or outdoors to 4 - 6 sats or more!!!! yeha!

I'm curious about the Alltel 3.42.50 radio. Have you guys had good locks with it? I'm on Sprint and using DCD's ROM and was using his 3.42.50 port from Vogue but I get terrible locks.

I compared DCD's radio using NBHExtract and looked at Alltel's 3.45.50 Radio...

Comparing the two radios using NBHextract:
C:\Test>nbhextract TITAIMG.nbh [DCD's radio 3.42.50]
=== NBHextract v1.0
=== Extract contents from HTC NBH files
=== (c)2007 xda-developers.com
=== by: pof & TheBlasphemer based on itsme perl scripts
Device: TITA10000
CID: HTC__001
Version: 3.42.50
Language: USA
Extracting: 00_GSM.nb

Alltel Radio:
C:\Test>nbhextract 3.42.50_alltel.nbh
=== NBHextract v1.0
=== Extract contents from HTC NBH files
=== (c)2007 xda-developers.com
=== by: pof & TheBlasphemer based on itsme perl scripts
Device: TITA10000
CID: SuperCID
Version: 1.98.3
Language: WWE
Extracting: 00_GSM.nb

Any guesses? It's the version that worries me.

Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

Hi zzzzzzzzz
Its 1 a.m. nearly. I thought I had all ready for GPS on my Verizon xv6900 but then realized (and this displays my ignorance) I haven't 'flashed' my rom. So anyone (Shadowtech preferably) have a link to the best rom for my device? and maybe 'how to flash rom for dummies' thanks. I went through your post for speeding the gps shadowtech but of course to no avail. Thanks anyway.
GPS 'Get Pretty Stupid' about now....... oh yeah, if I do a rom flash/update whatever will I lose all my programs etc? thx

Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

Yeah if you flash your ROM you're gonna lose stuff. I'd look at using PIMBackup from dotfred.net. Also try reading the GaMedic's how to flash a custom ROM thread and learn to make your own. Then after reading that I would give no2's 206 a try.

Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

Strangely, the GPS 'sort of' worked on my HTC 6800 with the original wm6.0 ROM. Once I updated it to 6.1 I haven't been able to get it to work since, and this patch is no exception. Just keeps complaining about not being able to find the GPS receiver.

I know 6.1 is *SUPPOSED* to be set up so that the GPS "just works" but it doesn't, and that is what annoys me
