Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

Hello Shadow-Tech,

I used the zip with the 4 files on w6.0 and they worked gr8. The google maps worked fine. I recently loaded the new all-tell rom w 6.1 and before reading your post I added the same zip files. I cannot get the GPS to now work. Is there a way to remove the 4 files would you think that since I added these it would of missed up the original settings on the new rom for wm 6.1? I did not read the post here first like I said before loading the cab with the 4 files and loading them like I did before on the wm 6.0

I am getting initializing GPS. I checked and the location is turned on. The com is 4, none windows manage. I even added the com 4/ 4800 manually to see if that made a difference.

Thanks for all the help you have given here. BTW,,,, like I said it worked gr8 on wm 6.0 I also noticed that All-tel added a program called alltel navigation would this be causing any issues, I cannot get it to work as well.

did the soft reset too. Didn't help. Reflashing now. Will try from scratch and let you know how it goes. Dunno if it's going to fix it though.

install to main memory?

ok i think u chagning the wrong setting.

there are 3 tabs in the 'External GPS' settings menu.
they are 'Programs', 'Hardware', 'Access'

under 'Programs' tab:
GPS program port: COM4

under 'Hardware' tab:
GPS hardware port: (None)
Baudrate: 4800

under 'Access' tab:
Manage GPS automatically: Enabled (Check mark is there)

in google maps,

goto menu\options\GPS Setting...

Managed By Windows: enabled (mark is there)

Re: GPS on alltel 6800 - easy way

yep, all the settings are correct, did many soft resets and even *228, i even went as far as to walk outside last night and literally hold my phone up in the air because it was wide open and clear outside and i still got nothing.

on a second note; i did notice that my external gps is under system instead of connections like it was sated in the troubleshooter in 1st post, not sure but i think i remember seeing with new rom update it said it wuz supposed to move exteral gps into the connections tab, but mine is still in settings/system tab..... dont know if that has anything to do with my problem

if u had the zip file with the 4 cabs then it will be in system, the cab i made moves it to connections. this doesnt make a difference where it is.

i have updated the 1st post. u will need to check it again. it has all the trouble shooting steps. if it doesnt work then u are doing something wrong or have done something wrong. all u need to do is install a cab and soft reset. i dont know what to say other then read the troubleshooting section. read it again very carefully and dont skip over it. if u resolve ur issue please share what u did. perhaps u have a problem that i am unaware of. good luck
