Re: The official kitchen vs. Sdconfig, autorun, dcd kitchen etc... Why is it better?
kitchen dumb down the process to the easiest method. its very much a plug & play type solution.

Kitchens are the way to go if you want to customize your rom.
For example, when I do a hard reset my rom comes up with all my favorite software preinstalled and pre-registered. It takes a while to make the customized OEMS, but once you have them set the way you want you can just drop them in just about any kitchen and cook a personized rom with not much additional effort. |

just my 2¢
If you autoinstall, you still hafta wait for the install, with a kitchen you can pretty much (minus maybe a pr0g or 3) cook everything in you want, and leave out the bloatware. So its like running a n02chem rom that was made just for you, mainly bcuz well it was. So should you ever need to Hard reset, you have much less to install (if any) to put your device back the way it was prior to doing said hard reset... like i said... just my 2¢

ah thanks guys for the input!
Still tho, I'm guessing now that it doesnt make installing apps that require keys "plug n play" type easy then? Does that still have to be done by editing cabs / registry etc? |

Depends entirely on the application. I haven't dug deeply into this yet, but if the program stores in the key in a specific file or a registry entry, then that can be done very easily with an OEM by having it copy the file or string to the right spot.
