The official kitchen vs. Sdconfig, autorun, dcd kitchen etc... Why is it better?

Now I haven't used any of the above enough to fully understand any of them, but I've been very confused about this.

Why is this official kitchen a big deal? I mean I'm sure it is, but I'd just like to know why...

I'm assuming, it is much easier than using sdconfig etc. But if you already have a clean custom rom available, and you have apps like the Autoinstaller... what else does the kitchen offer over that? (aside from the basic, "easier to use" )

For me, I'd love to have something that will not just install all the apps I want, but also allow me to install them, with registration keys in the appropriate places for my apps that require one, using a simple method (ie not like sdconfig, cab edited, etc etc). If it can't do that one thing for me, then I stop right there in trying to use it for customizing my own rom... Mainly because to me it seems logical to stick with the usual flash custom rom - then install apps (I've been using autoinstaller), input reg keys afterwards etc... rather than spending the time learning how to use a complex app with no apparent significant advantages.

Can anyone elighten me a little bit on this subject?

To add: No2chem's rom, right off the bat, provides me with the usual performance tweaks, reg tweaks, that I used to manually input myself.
