Thoughts? I like the HTC home plugin and it is very convenient. I would hate to revert back to the stock ROM. By the way, I am running the 6.0 version with the 3.35 ROM. Should I move to 6.1? Is the memory any better?
you just told the equivalent of "i feel pain. i think it's my body, please help"

you need to tell us what you have loaded (OEMs), and what settings you have, and all other factors, (what you are trying to run, how do you know you are low on memory etc.) because without that info, we can't really help you.

Going to need a lot more information from you than just a random question like this. This includes everyone really. Please include your carrier, kitchen version (5054), and as much detail about the problem as possible. This will help avoid unnecessary posts like this one that just ask for more information.

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0)

jeffhaton and ViPaDawG, I've seen a similar low-memory issue myself, though I admit to the Kitchen chefs that I hadn't (yet) tried to figure out the key app. There is another thread on the topic of leaking memory where people thought it was the radio, I'll post a link when I come across it again.

My observations are these:
I tried NexVision's ROM Nex_3.35_no2_SPCS_SPB_FIXED2.exe (Sprint) and it was beautiful, but had the memory issues you mentioned. It routinely would get down to 4-5k even after running Oxios Memory. The problem for me, because I don't care what the number is as long as I can use things I want, how I want, is that PIE would often close randomly (out of memory?) or when I switched to another app. I hated having to start over in PIE, very cumbersome. But man, I love that interface!

I then tried RdZLyZs rom (dizzle2.0sprint_tsms) and although it's not as beautiful (sorry RdZ) I've come to appreciate that it's not a bad one. It's got 15-16k free almost all the time, PIE doesn't close (nor does almost anything else) even when switching back and forth between several other apps. It's very stable. I run Oxios, and it'll free up at most 1.5k but more often 0.3k. Oh, and I run HTC Home plug-in, which suggests it isn't a unique cause of memory issues.

I also suspect the radio isn't the issue, since it didn't change.

Damn, I just realized Nex was based on No2Chem while RdZ was based on DCD... sorry about missing that. I don't know if that's the cause, but it's maybe a clue. I suspect there's something else involved since not everyone has issues with these ROMs, and the No2Chem and DCD routes have long-time credibility.

I'm hoping that somehow this cryptic information helps the Nex ROM and/or the No2Chem ROM identify a core cause, so I can switch back to the "liquid joy" that is the Nex interface! (ha ha) I'm hoping to test a bunch of stuff to help if I can, but I can't get the kitchen to work yet.

BuildOS cached proxy issue (maybe)

colonel and GGuru, thanks for the help the other night on the ppckitchen chat. I've found that the BuildOS is trying to access my authenticating proxy server, even when I removed that requirement. It's being stored somewhere and I can't figure out how to clear it. What happens is BuildOS times out waiting for the authenticating proxy to respond.

My steps:
I initially tried BuildOS behind an authenticating proxy, and it failed because of that. No problem, I found the threads and understand what's going on there.
I removed the proxy requirement, and it failed again. I'm running Symantec Client Firewall, and it's not blocking anything according to the logs and live monitoring. But it did show that BuildOS was still trying to access the authenticating proxy.

I reinstalled .NET2.0SP1; rebooted a couple times (at home) to try to remove any need for the proxy; opened IE at home so it could set the internet settings that some other apps try to re-use via IE; uninstalled and reinstalled BuildOS. None worked so far.

I tried to find where .NET may be storing the proxy server, but didn't find it yet.

I suggest: I saw you're intending to add proxy support in future. Using the paradigm, "Do the simplest thing that works": it might be simply to let people "reset" the proxy info, or say whether or not to use the IE settings. I don't mind having to avoid the authenticating proxy, but right now I need a way to clear out the cached info. No rush though, I'll keep trying from my side.

Everyone has access. Instead of just complaining, why not describe the problems you are having. That way maybe it can be fixed.

hmm....first of all, I haven't ran out of memory, and I've had the device since 6/18/2007, so I cannot say what's going on in that sense. However, with a rom based on 5060, I boot with about 19.5ish MB free, and even with using a bunch of apps, and then seeing how much free RAM is left, it's still a good 17-18. I am not sure which apps you are running, and if you are closing your programs (make sure Tap X to close is enabled in X-Button and not Tap + Hold). I usually am on the phone, texting, and then have possibly PIE running (before rudely being interrupted by a call), and even then I haven't had any memory issues. It's definitely a YMMV thing when you have memory issues, and it's largely based on what you are doing, so in that regard, you can't really say you have "memory issues" unless you aren't using any other apps.

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0)

The problem is that I am not using apps other than Outlook push and the HTC plug-in. I notice ActiveSync is running. The memory is running 71% full ... even with all the apps closed that I just described. I am running th HTC home plug-in which I really like. I would prefer not to get rid of that if possible. As I said in a previous post, I run Oxios, but that only fixes the problem temporarily. I consistently run around 15-17MB free on a soft reset and it continues the downward trend from there. Again, all I really use is activesync and outlook email. I am not even doing much more than that. Occasionally, I will fire up Live Search to use the gps functionality. The memory continues to dwindle and I never get it back totally until I soft reset. I built my ROM from the basic kitchen out there. I am using 5054 I believe. Would an upgrade to 5059 fix these issues or help? I am not quite sure how you upgrade to 5059, so any posts you could direct me to would be great or if someone could help me out ... I would be grateful.

Thanks!
