Your phone has 4 flashable regions (not counting splash images): bootloader, radio, OS, and extended_ROM. The kitchen only builds OS ROMs, and the carrier customizations are on the extended_ROM. We've taken the useful bits of the extended_ROM for each carrier and built them into the OS when you select your carrier, but that still leaves the extended_ROM untouched after flashing. It's up to you to decide what you want to do with your extended_ROM - delete the files there and use it for storage, or keep it in case you want to revert.

It's not suprising it hangs after failing to load...some of the customizations are not compatible with WM6.1

I thought the 'food' used in cooking was the 'basekits', i.e. either the No2Chem base or the stock SPRINT base stuff.

And the ROM is the actual output of the kitchen- the .nbh file that you use to load into your phone. It is a compilation of all the 'food' you selected- the basekits and any other stuff you checked off.

Don't want to belabor the discussions, but it may be easier if we all use the same terminologies....It appears as some of us may be a bit confused....
It used to be that a "Kitchen" was everything you needed to make a single ROM flavor. Buildos was just one of several tools used inside the kitchen to do the baking, and each kitchen had it's own set of tools. Beginning with this generation of BuildOS, a single version of BuildOS is capable of making multiple ROMs for multiple devices, so we now generally refer to BuildOS as The Kitchen - but individual rom kits are also still called "kitchens" for legacy reasons if they are the basis of ROM cooking. [e.g., you would properly refer to DCD's rom kit as a kitchen because it contains it's own buildos, and maybe No2Chem's 5054 rom kit because it is the basis of a kitchen even though it doesn't contain any kitchen software, but not Rob Mayer's rom kits because they only contain the final kitchen output.] Personally, I like referring to BuildOS as the kitchen and everything else as a rom kit, but I don't think that terminology is common or sometimes even accurate yet.

ROMs are the final output of a kitchen.

OEMs are additional programs you can build into a ROM when using a kitchen.

A "Basekit" is the minimum files to produce a ROM, but not additional files that a "kitchen" would generally have and not necessarily in a kitchen friendly format.

"Official" is applied to basekits that have both been updated to include the necessary additional files AND been tested for stability, compatiblity, and beginner friendliness AND are available via the updater tool.

"Stock" refers to a carrier provided ROM/configuration.

Please keep these types of questions to the appropriate basekit thread. The 5060 basekit is not ready for primetime as is, and Lenny's kitchenizing of it is not ready for primetime either.

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0)

Generally, kits that are available via updater are well tested and we will answer questions about those. Other kits we may not even have seen, so the developer of them is the best place to ask questions. The problem with responding to your question in this thread is too many people who shouldn't attempt it yet will try it.

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0)

Two other problems seen with the Kitchen:
  1. If the phone runs for a while (maybe 6 -10 apps in the background), S2U2 will stop working. Rebooting the phone gets S2U2 working again. I never saw this with the Apache WM6 Kitchen. The Apache WM6.1 Kitchen didn't run S2U2 very well, so I stopped using S2U2 on my Apache.
  2. When I press the button for MS Voice Command, I no longer hear a confirmation "beep" after the button press. Voice Command is active and responds normally after hearing the command, however.

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0)

OK, i need some help here.. I uninstalled buildos and reinstalled (tried several times) but updater will not work, fails at 6% overall then errors out saying (failed to load apache kitchen) I need to know what I need to do to totally remove this from my PC so I can re-install fresh. What reg-entries does it make and is it designed to not completely uninstall? Thanks in advance.

Re: Titan Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0)

Two questions.

I am using MS VC and like to have text messages read into my headset. this had been working well until this last flash. I hear the tone, but will inconsistently get the message. What is wtranger is that i can sometimes get the message to be read if I press the headset button (which also activates VC).

Soft reset does not consistently repair this, and sometimes the entire message comes through.

Second, what is the little button that appears on the today screen when a new text appears? Cool, but I don't know where the came from. Touching them opens a window to view a text or missed call.

I believe the first problem is due to the memory management built into 6.1. It will shut down apps based on priority and last usage. So, this may kill s2u2 when you are running a bunch of other stuff.

There is a new version of Voice Command coming that does give you that initial beep again.
