Re: FWIW Lost cell radio after *228 option 2 on N2C 5055 rom, ? resolved

Eureka! Its a PRL issue. Backed down on the PRL and it works fine. I'm back to Sprint radio and n2c's 5055. I'll mess around a bit more and see if I can slowly move up the PRL's to get the most current that will work with this phone.

Re: FWIW Lost cell radio after *228 option 2 on N2C 5055 rom, ? resolved

Ok, all seems to work. Now the question is why can I install an older PRL but not a newer one. I tried to use the *228 option one, rebooted, and lost the radio. The PRL was 51020 after the *288. Edited the PRL back to 50720 and it works again. I know most folks are on the 50989. I guess I should move up the PRL's and get the the most current one that works...

Could this be VZW attempt to disable the new Sprint ROM from working in the 6800???

Re: FWIW Lost cell radio after *228 option 2 on N2C 5055 rom, ? resolved

Wild, none of the America's Choice II Nationwide PRL's work with it but all the America's Choice I work. I'm really smelling a conspiricy...

Could I be missing something? I wonder if I somehow borked the hardware so it won't take the Nationwide PRL's... But it works fine on stock with the latest PRL. Makes no sense to me but I'm up and running and as I don't really travel, the old PRL shouldn't be a problem...

Any ideas or thoughts from the guru's would be greatly appreciated.

It gets weirder. I went in and updated through the phone settings and noted that no button was checked infront of the roaming options (Sprint only, Roam only). I checked the Sprint only and after a few other things were done, I reset and lost the radio again. Before I changed the roaming settings, it survived a few soft resets with intack settings and radio. Tried to install the working PRL again and I'm at the searching icon again. I'll keep chugging along...

Re: FWIW Lost cell radio after *228 option 2 on N2C 5055 rom, ? resolved

Ok, I'm done and phone working well.

I went back to stock, got the radio back, upgraded to the Sprint radio and rom, byp***** all the customizations, manually updated to the 50766 PRL,before continuing to the customized rom (by letting the Sprint rom boot up, go through the screen calibration, and soft resetting before their customizations, upon reboot went into EPST by ##778# and edited and updated to a PRL I stored on my SD card, and then soft reset again).

Then upgraded to n2c 5055, got a new A key and all radios work (cell, gps, and wifi). I can make voice and data calls. I still can't figure out why this happened and why I can't use the newest PRL's but I guess I'll stick to this combo until VZ comes out with their upgrade.

Whew.... Glad to be back to the snappier rom!

If you get this searching for signal on vzw the phone is not authenticating 1x properly and a new akey will fix the slow signal. Do not revert back to stock.

Sorry, but a new A key didn't help (and I did this a few times). Even Tech Sup told me to send it back once or twice. The old prl gave me data and voice (with GPS of course) so it was authenticated...

The clanges to the EPST data in the above link worked and I'm on the new prl now!

I posted the link to xda in case anyone with the same problem comes across this thread. I'm just glad to be on a Nationwide prl now as I'm traveling next week.
