Re: Sprint Official and DCD on Alltel - Success Story

I have a question for the Alltel 6800 users out there. I have a friend with an Alltel 6800 and I have the Sprint 6800. I can obtain a GPS lock in seconds and his will never obtain one satellite lock. He's gone through two devices. We've been trying to get his GPS working since the 3.16 beta was released. We thought it might have been a tower issue in the area where we work, but I've changed the GPS registry settings to use GPS Mode 1 and turned off aGPS and the other setting, still his phone navigates over to Nepal. He has received two locks before, once while at home and once in another city. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong? I've used No2Chem and DCD roms both prebuild and kitchen built roms and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sprint Official and DCD on Alltel - Success Story

are you using quick gps and gps viewer? they both help alot with issues related to gps, the 2nd thing i can say is that if he can't get a lock then try soft booting the phone and try agian from scratch. did u use the kitchen for his ppc on the new sprint rom as stated in this thread?

Re: Sprint Official and DCD on Alltel - Success Story

!!!! "still his phone navigates over to Nepal." !!!!!!

I am having the same exact issue!!!

I followed inscructions expilicitly,

1) Olipro 2.40
2) Sprint ROM 3.5, not going further than "Tap the screen to set up your WMD"
3) Running DCD 3.01.

Everything else works perfect, no hang-ups or roaming, but GPS locks on somewhere on the border of Nepal!

WTF?

Haha any luck send some info my way.

Thanks.

Re: Sprint Official and DCD on Alltel - Success Story

I've tried DCD's builds, No2Chem's, built the images with the kitchens and still no luck. It never gains a lock and just sits in Nepal. I've enabled GPSModes 0,1,2,3,4, turn on/off AGPS, you name it, I've done it. My Sprint Mogul works perfectly fine. One observation is that there is a server and a port listed in the registry. By chance, could this server be blocking connections from Alltel customers? I know that if I turn off AGPS and use stand alone, this should matter, but for some reason, the phone just doesn't want to cooperate. Any one else over come this issue? I've tried forcing the phone in to roaming and still no luck....

Re: Sprint Official and DCD on Alltel - Success Story

Tav are you showing any sats in GPS viewer? when it is flashing around, does it see any, are you using Quick GPS to download the sat locations? I just upgraded a stock alltel 6800 on thursday night for a bud of mine, did just these steps,

Olipro 2.40
Sprint 3.35 Rom
and then Kitchen

Installed apps after this

Re: Sprint Official and DCD on Alltel - Success Story

I can not get the spring RUU to install. I am following the directions to a "T" and still no luck. Do I have to have the bootloader running BEFORE I start the sprint ROM? If this is the case, that's not what I have done so far. ONce I run the Sprint update, it eventually runs the bootloader, then goes to 1%, then an error, and the phone resets itself. Any thoughts?

Edit: The error I get is Error 328 - Invalid Command. The Update Utility can not be used for your PDA phone. Please check the Update utility.

Re: Sprint Official and DCD on Alltel - Success Story

No. No sats just says searching. Iv'e tried multiple configurations and at best got 2 sats locked with gps viewer after 1 hour. The one time google earth locked me in was inside my house so it must have been using the tower triangulation. It hasn't worked since.
