Have you tried to reset the data plan?
When you say "No EVDO", do you mean no data connection at all?
Have you checked: Phone/Menu/Options/Services/Mode of Operation/Get Settings/Hybird (Radio Dial).

When the data plan gets reset by VZW, It can take a little while to show up.
Do you get a data connection at all (with 1X)?
What do you mean by "No EVDO" (Are you in an EVDO area)?

Re: Restoring your xv6800 to a Stock Verizon ROM

am unable to connect to a data line at all. 1x and evdo require password I presume and system refuses to retain it ...so no data connection only voice... like I said ..expensive phone...

Start/Settings/Connections/Connections.
What do you see?
Click "Advanced" Tab (at the bottom),
Click "Select Networks".
The top Dropdown should say "Verizon Wireless".
