Re: Sprint Navigation? Isn't that encouraging you to break the law?

The act of using the cell phone is not what is illegal. It's the fact that it is distracting and can cause an accident. Hence headsets. Messing with a radio can be seen as "illegal" because that will also cause an accident.

TomTom on my phone warns of the risk of operating while driving. I'm sure that Sprint has a warning somewhere about navigation. As said above, you enter a route when you get in the car and listen to the directions. Sprint Nav has voice command too so no need to be toying with the phone.

Re: Sprint Navigation? Isn't that encouraging you to break the law?

there was a study done recently that headsets do not lower accidents, it actually IS the act of using cellphones regardless of whether they're with a headset or not.

http://insure.com/articles/carinsura...phone-ban.html
http://www.behandsfree.com/legislation.aspx (this one has specific rules for use of headsets as well)

Physically using the phone is illegal. Using it hands free isn't.

Not so, really.

It warns you when you run the software not to interact with it while driving.

You enter your destination and then put the unit where you can see and hear it.

You do not have to look at the unit at all as it gives voice guidance, But if you want to actually look at the screen... that's not against the law in any state.

And remember that radar detectors are illegal in some states; but that doesn't mean that people can't sell them...
