Sprint Navigation? Isn't that encouraging you to break the law?

I just thought of something for all you Sprint Navigation people, when you are using your cellphone to look up directions using Sprint Navigation, aren't you driving and using your cellphone? Doesn't that mean you're being encouraged to break the law? At least it is in NY where you're not supposed to use your cellphone while driving?

If ( Number of states that allow driving and cell use > number of states that don't )
Continue developing programs for use while driving

Not really... using your logic you could argue that simply having a regular cell phone "encourages" you to break the law... having a car that can go over 65 MPH encourages you to break the law... having an MP3 player encourages you to break the law... etc.
Bottom line, It's up to you what you do with it.

No, what I mean is, you have to actually be USING the navigation, ergo, the phone to actively be looking up directions, that is what is against the law. The mere intention is not against the law, we're not thought police, the act of using the phone WHILE driving is against the law.

Its like a builtin navi system.... You should get a warning when you open the app to "not program while driving, use caution when looking at map, etc"

You're supposed to plug in your destination before you start driving. Then only use the map to guide you while moving

Re: Sprint Navigation? Isn't that encouraging you to break the law?

navi systems are not cellphones, cellphones are the ones that are explicitly against the law while driving.

it's splitting hairs, but that's the law.

LOL when you use the navigation, do you have to physically hold the phone on your ear and talk into it?

Matter of fact, you don't have to hold the phone at all. If you do then its your risk.

Splitting hairs indeed

No you don't. You can put the address in BEFORE you start driving...
If you want to do it while you are driving, that's up to you (but dangerous).
Again, it's your decision.

*shrug* I walk any way. Just curious. I've never actually gotten good directions from any of those sites any way, even when I did have a car. Of course, the office did it well when they drove the car into the lake because it told them to.
