Bricked. Out of ideas.

So i got a refurb replacement from sprint because the LED broke on my original one. My original phone flashed fine but the new one has given me problems from the get-go.

Right off the bat I figured since it was using a stock rom (2.17), i'd just install the standard 3.16 per the Easy Guide.

No can do.

The 3.16 installer move it to bootloader, disconnected, reconnected, and then said it couldn't find a connection.

Fine, i'll do it the old way. Relock the phone. Try again.

Nothing.

Relock again. Install Hard SPL. Takes it to the grey status bar screen and then stops responding.

Hard reset. Install Hard SPL again. Same thing.

Relock. Hard Reset. Install 3.16 from storage card. Nothing.

Now i'm stuck in bootloader and nothing works. I've tried a hard reset. I've tried unlocking. Relocking. titan_exitbl.exe. HardSPL. No2Chem's ROM installer. Installing from a memory card. Nothing will register.

Am I SOL? I had a feeling a refurb would be a problem. There are no mogul's in stock, either, so I'm going to have to either run around with a temp phone or no phone at all until they can order me a replacement mogul.

If i can't get out of bootloader, i kinda doubt they can do anything either.

Any other ideas?

Re: Bricked. Out of ideas.

If its in bootloader its not bricked. You should be able to flash a ROM when its in boot loader using the RUU.

Also there is a program that will unstuck out of bootload, but you need to search. Sound to me like you just dont have a ROM on your phone.

Did you make sure that USB was disabled in ActiveSync? Does it give a notification sound on the pc when you connect the USB cable?

When you tried flashing from the SD card, did you follow these instructions exactly, using the "leaked" 3.16 package??

1. Using a PC, format a microSD card to FAT32.
2. Using winrar or an unzipper, extract the *.nbh file from the ROM upgrade .exe.
3. Copy the *.nbh file to the root directory on the formatted microSD card
4. Rename the file on the microSD card TITAIMG.nbh.
5. Insert the microSD card into the phone and reset into bootloader (power, camera, reset).
6. The phone will tell you to press the power button to flash the ROM; do so.

Re: Bricked. Out of ideas.

Just tried Bakntyme's suggestions again, in case i missed a step last time. Nope. Same thing. I'm copying two .nbh files from the ROM upgrade exe onto the FAT32 formatted card and resetting. Device acts like nothing is in SD slot.

When i plug USB cable in (while it's in bootloader), it makes the connection sound. I'm on vista, i don't have activesync. Do i need to disable the built in WMDC? If so, how? Last time i flashed a mogul, i didnt have to disable the WMDC.

I've tried the exit_bl app already. Doesn't do anything. I'm going to try flashing to 2.17 as a last ditch effort. After that, i'm out of ideas and i'm taking this POS back to the store.

Re: Bricked. Out of ideas.

oh yeah, forgot to mention, now that i'm stuck in bootloader, NOTHING even registers on the phone at all. Like nothing can communicate with the phone. I literally cannot do ANYTHING except get the "you are connected" sound. And yeah, i've reboot my computer several times as well. I think i'm screwed at this point. I'm dling 2.17 right now as a last ditch effort.

Re: Bricked. Out of ideas.

Ok so 2.17 installs fine from the installer. But NOTHING else works. Every other installer errors out and says that there's some communication problem. And the SD card install doesn't work at ALL. I've tried doing a regular reboot and a bootleader reboot and in either case it acts like there's no card in the slot.

Ideas? This is starting to annoy me.
