The only thing that irks me about vista needing some special tweak is the fact that i did it on my original mogul and everything went smooth. I have wasted more hours than i can count on this issue. I knew i should have just kept the original and sucked it up. The only thing wrong with it was a sticky "down" arrow key and the blue led was busted. Now i have a whole bunch of problems way worse than that.

Let's hope that the update hits on the 10th. I can't believe my luck. Not only do i get a bad refurb, but it's only defective with things that it doesn't officially support. Reminds me of those poor guys who got the ONE Celeron 300A chip that wouldn't overclock when they bought it for that sole reason.

If anyone knows how to intentionally brick this phone (without using a hammer), i'd be open to it if the official 3.16 happens to work. I want custom ROMs, damnit.

edit: I'm wondering if i did the SD-card update process wrong. I double and tripled checked that i was following directions though. Will any FAT32 format process work? Do i have to choose a specific allocation unit size? Could there be anything else i'm screwing up? I can't believe stock ROMs work but i can't even get HardSPL to function.
Not getting the bootloader upgraded is most of your problem. Why you can't get it upgraded I can't say, but you should look into trying it on another PC that runs XP if at all possible.

Can you get it to connect to WMDC? If not, I'd take it back to Sprint for that reason alone.

The updated ROM on Monday is pretty much a sure thing. An e-mail sent to the Tier 2 techs has been leaked on here already.
