Not certain about the QuickGPS improvements either. Similar test?

Re: Enabling A-GPS (Assisted GPS) on WM6.1 ROMS

I think it only ever worked once. The first time I tried it (yes it was a very cold lock) it caught ten sats in about three seconds at the window of a building where I never could get a lock before. Ever since then it has been performing no better than before I did the hack.

So is the consensus that this hack works or is a waste of time?

Consensus bites...its more fun to argue endless for pointless reasons. Oh wait...I was the one who started this thread, *quickly dons flameproof suit*. If it works for you great...if not, *in Nelson voice* HA HA. (quickly runs away...)

I think of it this way: if it's not obvious that it's better by this point, then it's value must be negligible.

This is an awesome find I too am getting a lock in just a matter of seconds in places that I didn't get any satellites before.

Re: Enabling A-GPS (Assisted GPS) on WM6.1 ROMS

what exactly does that registry value mean? I know that it supposedly helps with locking sats better but what would be the actual difference between 2 and 4?

I know that for some reg settings the 1 means on and 0 means off, so what does 2 and 4 pertain to?

GPSmode selects between different aGPS functionallity. I don't recall which value is which off the top of my head, but 4 is "supposedly" the hybrid mode which uses either tower assist, or standalone depending on what's available.

You can find more details at http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/sho...157914&page=24

HOWEVER, I have been playing with the settings under this key, and now believe that they are not enabled/working on our devices. Both on the Titan, as well as the Vogue, you can change the ServerIP to some bogus value or set enabled to 0, and it makes no difference what-so-ever!

YMMV

That would explain why hybrid mode is quicker.
my understanding is smartmode is for serverbased apps, ie sprintnav/telnave...
if default is enabled the gps is trying to send/recive data it can't use (unless aforementioned app is "listening" for it)
