I think I read that if you turn off network time-sync, ActiveSync will stay closed.

I will chime in and say that I love the way 6.1 runs, but the newer version of PIE kills me. It forced me to finally load a java emulator and opera. I should have done that from the start!

Phone is awesome, data works flawlessly and all the stock apps and UI seem to be light years ahead of stock roms. I don't have any plugins loaded, and my RAM will stay at 19-20 megs all day if I close apps.

I would recommend it to anyone.

BTW, running DCD's 2.2.6 rom now, with only 1 memory regedit (GDI/Glyphcache/3276 and it just flies. It impressed my I-phone buddies with the capabilities

Running DCD's 6.1 version here, and I must say its the best my phone ever ran. It seems just as fast as WM5 on the Mogul.

Some bugs that I noticed that are present in every 6.1 Rom out there:

Memory leak. There is a memory leak which requires you to reset your phone every couple of days. Still a bigger improvement over past builds.

GPS: Anytime you have a program thats polling the GPS, and you put your phone to sleep in standby, it takes a good 10 seconds to come out of standby.

My biggest improvement was no more missed calls...I use to get 3 or 4 missed calls a week, meaning it wouldn't ring but I'd have a voicemail waiting. I've not experienced this since 6.1

Dcd & no2chem have worked very hard together to make the best 6.1 roms. I personally favor no2chems but often give Dcd's a spin for evaluation. The 6.1 platform (non-beta I believe) is extremely stable and noticeably snappy; the self-managed memory model in 6.1 is very impressive in terms of performance and program management. I have yet to encounter any low-memory errors or conflicts installing apps.

The threaded sms application is a delight and I find it easy to use (coming from formerly using codyppc's which is hard to top).

A few tweaks here and there as well as cosmetic changes are all that seperate 6.1 from 6 but the true difference lies in the forementioned. I personally enjoy 6.1 and it's new features & abilities and look forward to the hard work that is divulged into current & future releases...

awesome effing thread people..ive been teetering on the fence about trying this...i might take the jump now. How about these roms vs the unofficial rom? Are they much much better? Im happy with the test version that was initially released, but would love to improve it.

My biggest problem is Program Memory. Guess this really can't have anything done about it since the Mogul starts out without inadequate memory once I have everything running and my pocket Outlook with 1300 contacts in it. Then I like to use WisBar and WisBar Desktop. They only take about 1 MB but there goes some more. By the time I add weather and maybe a PIM I'm down to 12 or so available Program memory.

That wouldn't be so bad IF...I wasn't using iGuidance for my GPS.

What my problem is is that iGuidance needs ALOT of RAM (manual suggests 20MB be available when it is started) and therefore I really can't run my GPS when I have my Mogul configured the way I want. Besides, with iGuidance I have to OPEN GPS with another program and then operate GPSGate to translate. Basically I guess I'm screwed on 6.1 and I'll just have to go back to 6.0.

I have done some experiments with the latest 2.2.6 (that I'm running now) and basically the memory problem breaks down like this:

I start out with about 20.5MB when I first flash. Once I add my sync with my Exchange Server I go down to about 18.5MB (I guess all the contacts take up Program Memory).

Then there is Voice Command that takes another 2.5 or so and I'm at 16.5MB. Then there is WisBar, WisBar Desktop, MarsWeather, and a PIM Today that end up taking another 2-2.5MB so I'm down to 14 or so. This is all on a fresh reset. With some memory leak even using Oxio I'm running aroung 12.5 or so before I try to use iGuidance and then it all crashes down.

I'd be willing to pass up this 6.1 2.2.6 snappy performance for more RAM. Guess I'll have to wait for the PPC7000!
