Re: An Easy Guide to Upgrading

From poking around the archives at XDA, I would guess (just guess) that my phone isn't "CID unlocked" and I can only flash a ROM which matches the provider currently on my PPC. Color me confused for now...I thought the phone had to be 'locked' to load the base 3.16 ROM? Or is that a different kind of "lock" and I'm mixing apples and....different apples??

Here is the post that is hauntingly familiar:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/arch.../t-294208.html

I might have to get mtty and start poking around...look out world....

Try running the 2.40 hard-SPL unlocker and then the ROM flash.

That part of the directions did not work for me. I actually had to use the latest bootloader as "Marty" above suggested. DO NOT LET THE SPRINT CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN!!!!!!! When they beging to run, reset your phone. If you let them run, it will lock down your PST and you won't be able to edit it.

Hi Gecko, thanks for the info! Will try that...not sure when, though, as I'm a mobile worker and this is my only phone...

And thanks backntyme (Marty?) for the clue on 2.40...

A couple questions:

1- could you possibly give a brief rundown on the steps and files you used to get back to the VZW stock ROM? It would be great to have a confirmed fallback plan, instead of counting on winging it if necessary...
2- Do you feel your signal acquisition problems are because of the new ROM, or is this something that existed with the stock ROM? Trying to avoid these pitfalls...

Maybe after you and I and sculptor get this worked out we should start a separate "VZW Flashing for Idiots" thread...

Yes, and cultural references from 1985 (that was 23 years ago, you know) reveal your age...

Now guess what kind of car I own.
