Exclamation Questions before I unlock and flashing to WM 6.1

Hi!

Gonna unlock and flash for the first time, but I have a few final quesitons...

1. When applying the new ROM, do I also have to upgrade the radio manually as well, or is that included in the ROM files?

2. Will I have to call Sprint and reactivate my phone after flashing the new ROM?

3. How exactly do you apply the ROM from the SD card? I may go this route as I've seen a bunch of people having issues when pluggin/un-plugging the USB cable.

Thanks fellas!!!

About the Radio! Does the ROM you have have a Radio? What ROM you flashing? As far as reactivating the phone? Again that depends on what ROM you flashing..lol I flashed the 3.16 ROM and I didn't have to be reactivated, but the ROM erased my NAM & MSID Settings which is basicly your phone number. You might have to notify them to guide you through doing that or you could do it yourself. Depends on what you find after doing the flash. Post back after the flash some one will guide you in the right direction. Now I am clueless as to how to flash via the SD Card as I have never had an issue via USB.

Read the threads. Do a little bit of homework on your own.
You will learn alot more than just asking for someone to do it for you.

You have to run the newest unlocker (Olipro 2.4 Hard SPL), upgrade to the newest radio 3.27, and then the rom you want (DCD's wm6.1 and No2chem's wm6.1 roms are both great choices) .

You are going to loose everything on your phone when you update the radio, all your programing info and what not. I have Alltel so i don't really know the process for getting this info back on your phone but for me i just had to put my phone number back in PST settings. You might need to also write down your akey (again i wouldnt really know, alltel does not use this)

I also think i remember reading that sprint uses an unlock code to get into these settings that is based off your hex esn number (I wouldn't know as Alltel uses 000000, if this is true you should be able to find that thread around here somewhere).

Now for installing from SD card (you might need to do this if your having problems with USB or if you get stuck at splash screen after radio update) you just format your micro sd to fat 32 and put the rom .nbh file on the sd card but rename the file TITAIMG.nbh. Put your phone in boot-loader mode (hold camera, power and soft reset button) and the boot-loader should find that TITAIMG.nbh file on your sd card.

Hope this helps.

No kidding. Really? Read the threads? Gee. I never thought of that.

Thanks for nothing, chump.

I've been doing my homework for almost a year now, thank you very much. Just needed some clarification, as many experiences have been shared on these forums and it can get quite confusing.

Yeah, like I'd just go ahead and flash without reading anything. Been there done that. Just looking for some clarification.

Hmm .. no name calling please. Let's be adults.

Anyway, your questions above do not seem like they come from someone who has done their homework. Every one of your questions are answered in here and here and here.

I never have a problem helping people out at all. But, I learned all that I learned from reading from experiences of others -- and yes, I did consider it as doing homework.

There are 'basically' three parts to the software that runs your phone.
1. There is the SPL / bootloader.
2. There is the Radio ROM.
3. There is the System ROM.

All three must line up correctly.
1. If you are using code prior to 3.16 then you need either have the following SPLs:
>>>a. The ReLocker 1.06 SPL if running official carrier released code
>>>b. The unLocker (original) 1.20 if running custom built roms
2. If you are using 3.16+ code then you need either:
>>>a. The reLocker if upgrading to the unofficial carrier released rom
>>>b. the unLocker (new) 2.40 if running custom built roms

The path that is ABSOLUTELY the easiest and has the least potential of errors:

**Before you begin, make sure you have your MSID/MDN/EPST codes.**

1. If running pre-3.16 code,
>>>a. run the relocker, if you have already unlocked your spl
(don't worry about getting out of the bootloader - tri-color screen)
>>>b. do nothing if on official stock carrier released rom
2. Run the Unofficial carrier released rom 3.16 (this has the radio also)
3. If wanting to install custom rom:
>>>a. run the unLocker for 3.16 and above
(don't worry about getting out of the bootloader - tri-color screen)
4. Install you custom rom of choice.

No gurantees ever implied, but this IS easy and as bullet proof as possible.

Edited: Check out the link below of a complete step-by-step guide. Enjoy!
