Ha! I'm determined to one-up the great Coz-erator, at least in the battery life category(wish me luck).

Wait a sec... Coz tells us he's using Juice Defender, and you can see the icon in his screen caps 1st post... So maybe it is a decent option for you.

Coz? Care to weigh into the debate?

Re: 'Bout Time to Recharge My Phone

It depends on your usage as I said, juice defender has some useful features like keeping you on 1x to save battery life and etc. Its all about optimization for your usage.

Re: 'Bout Time to Recharge My Phone

I've played with JD off and on for about the last year...and just recently with ACS ICS 5.5.

And as gTen stated it all depends on your usage. I use it primarily to toggle my radios off and on.

I've also played around with the whitelist capability so that when I select an app that 3G/Wifi are automatically activated.

As we know, there are many variables to our phones and that your mileage may vary.

Just keep tweaking your settings, kernels, etc. until you find the right balance...there are no hard and fast rules.

late,
Coz

Well I've had my Epic now for a year and 3 months. In that time I've searched for the perfect combination of ROM, kernel, launcher, OC/UV, background services, etc. to get better battery life.

I've killed off as many background services as I can (e.g., DRM, etc.). I'm sure the removal of CIQ helps as well. I don't use automatic background updating of any sort for email, FB, etc. I calibrate my battery whenever I change kernels/roms. I use wi-fi whenever I can. I usually don't overclock if I can't undervolt. I don't use live wallpapers even though I'm running WP Clock it doesn't seem to consume that much power. Screen brightness is down as low as I can stand it.

late,
Coz

Re: 'Bout Time to Recharge My Phone

Ok, I'm so jealous that I went ahead and purchased this battery for $16 at Amazon. I believe it is the same one mentioned by the XDA folks in this thread:

Samsung Genuine 1800mAh Standard Battery for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch d710

Re: 'Bout Time to Recharge My Phone

I've been using Anker 1800mAh batteries for about a month. I got two of them with a weird but useful multipurpose charger on Amazon for $10.99 w/free shipping. Best $11 I ever spent. I'm getting at least 25% better battery mileage on xBTs's MostlyStock Rebuild EI22 Rom with JD doing pretty much what Coz described. Usually, I get 2 days on a charge with moderate use and deactivating data at night.
