Also note that WPA2 bring more baggage to the table as well. I prefer it of course because I work occasionally from home, but it made surfing on an old single core P4 laptop slowwwww...It also MAY introduce a lag to the router itself if it's not optimized for WPA2, extra overhead in them interweb packets. Then again I'm using 128 character key for security probably overkill but it's work so better safe then sorry.

Finally don't be fooled by a false sense of security as well, WPA2 is the best you can currently get, but I'm pretty sure it's still breakable, it's just much harder then WEP is.

Old hardware can have slowness but new hardware is no issue..heck even the Epic does WPA2 when you use infrastructure tethering..aka if my cellphone can do it its time to throw out any device that cant >.> lol

WPA2 is secure enough...if your really parranoid thats where access list comes in to add an extra layer of security...

but I call it this:

WEP: general public deterrent
WPA2: hacker with a life deterrent
WPA2+access list: paranoid deterant

hacking is a risk/reward thing..no one is going to spend the effort to hack someones home WPA2 network unless they felt like there was a reward worthy of hacking it...which 99.999% of the time isnt worth the effort..

There is also WPA2 256bit..if your crazy enough..

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.1; en-us; SPH-D700 Build/FROYO) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

I. Setup the router with the highest security available and Epic recognized it withouth a problem also my sons Wii so I'm good. Any new device I get should pick it up.

Thanks gten for ur help/replies .. I'm gonna look more into all the crazy setting available to better secure it my net but for work cause at home I don't have any top secret files or anything someone would want to hack in for
