Re: I have no idea how to update to 2.2...

Thor comes in and mucks everything up because Loki was merely tricking Odin into relegating the information to the host phone under false pretenses?

Makes sense. I'll have to find this business and figure out how in the hell to use it. I'll necromance this thread on Friday when I'm back at it, and I thank both of you for your immense help so far.

Re: I have no idea how to update to 2.2...

Ok, so I'm going to try this soon. I think my checklist is:

-Backup my phone using Clockwork
-Flash to DI18
-Restore Phone
-Flash Kernel

I need help on all of the above haha. I assume I can backup my phone successfully using Clockwork, but I have questions on the others. I don't know the process to successfully get to DI18, in particulars what I have to do to get my phone ready (getting back stock stuff), and I have no idea what Odin is.

After that, I assume I restore my phone via Clockwork, meaning I'd have to reinstall The Rom Manager first?

Then I have to get on the kernel, basically the entire reason I have for doing this, and I have no idea how that works or what I'm even installing.

Side note, the only reason I'm flashing to 2.2 is to be able to move Poweramp to the MicroSD card so it hopefully stops skipping. Should I move to 2.2 regardless, or should I skip the hassle and resolve it another way?

The upgrade is pretty easy and the benifits of 2.2 are well worth it.

Give me a few and I'll edit this post with the odin instructions.

Download the DI18 tar file here: http://www.multiupload.com/X9AB1U56JV

I've attached odin for you.

1. Extract odin into a folder where ever you can easily find it.
2. Place the tar file from above in the same folder then run odin.
3. On the odin screen press the "PDA" button and navigate to the folder you put the .tar file in and select it "SPH-D700-DI18-8Gb-REL.tar"
4. Shut your phone off, then restart it by pressing the 1 key on the phones keyboard + the power button to enter download mode.
5. plug the USB cable in and you will see COM then a number in yellow on the odin screen.
6. Click start and let it do it thing, the phone will restart and you will be completely stock.

After this you can flash into recovery (stock) and run the update.zip

Then root with one click root 2.5

Then restore your data using the CWM advanced recovery.
Attached Files
File Type: rar Odin3+v1.61.rar (167.3 KB, 2 views) Click for barcode!

Re: I have no idea how to update to 2.2...

Ok, but before I start, to get a sufficient backup, boot to Clockwork and do a backup there?

Also, should I wipe my phone before doing the Odin thing, and can I do it even though I don't have the factory stuff? And will that add the factory stuff?

Duh, you said completely stock haha. Ok, so after that, do you know which kernel I should get for the audio and when I can restore?

Do the backup in CW first, no need to wipe.

gTen posted what you needed to flash for that earlier in the thread. I don't use it myself since that's not a big deal to me.

I would play with it some before flashing a kernel. gTen posted the custom kernels earlier in the thread.

Restore last.

Re: I have no idea how to update to 2.2...

Did he? Oh, my bad haha I'll check it out, thanks. I'm downloading that file right now, 35 minutes remaining due to bandwidth limitations. I'll check back in soon.

Now just to be clear, what's the best way to restore? Will I have to re-install Rom Manager or what? I'm not too clear on that.
