Re: Browser Suggestion

So which of the two browsers should I download/use?

Opera 11 or Dolphin HD?

I used Opera 10 (I think) on my old PPC-6800 and was happy with it except that it was a memory hog and the tabs gave no preview.

I liked the quick bookmark/links from the Opera 10 startup page. Does Opera 11 have this?

Opera does provide a mobile>desktop..it just doesn't work...the method they do it is very subtle..aka it requires the page to be compliant with the tag they send...99% of the pages, even yahoo.com ignore it and just send to mobile view by default.

Opera 11 though renders things much better as it has an HTML5 compliance on par with desktop browsers..not just acid3 compliance
well then they need to fix that switch. they need to have either MS or the makers of dolphin browser to teach them a thing or 2 about it because it hasn't worked good since opera 8.6x

Opera is fairly similar to the latest wm version..there is tab previews though..dolphin is also good..they both have advantages and disadvantages but ATM those 2 are probably the best..my choice for Opera was simply because I liked the navigation more and the better html5, faster flash

I tried using the opera browser but I miss the "pinch to zoom" feature of the standard browser...

Re: Browser Suggestion

I downloaded the full Opera from the app market. No "pinch to zoom" unless I missed some setting. It's really nice and a lot nicer than Opera 10 on the Mogul, but the pinch to zoom was killing me. Plus, even though I unchecked "view mobile site mode" the webpages would still load the mobile view.

Yeah, you gotta manually enter the user agent..it might be loading up mobile sites and thats why its not pinching to zoom...

To enforce UA gotta go to:

opera:config

user preferences->custom user agent

Type this in:

Opera/9.80 (Linux; en) Presto/2.7.81 Version/11.00

save and then restart the browser

This will enforce always desktop view

Its sad the Opera did all this so well and messed up on the simplest thing :/
