Re: Anyone want to say "to hell" with 2.2.1, give us 2.2.2?

during that same basic time, on the topic of Froyo.. started at 2.2.0 and now at 2.2.2..which goes to show that its not ready for prime time!

With previous nexus one updates they actually didn't change the version...it got like 3 updates before Froyo was official...but to be fair 2.2.1 your text messaging other people...so do you consider that ready for prime time? lol

Either way it won't be till late February to March until Gingerbread becomes available on any handset...

Re: Anyone want to say "to hell" with 2.2.1, give us 2.2.2?

idk... since I don't have a finished froyo, it's still all development for me.
The version upgrades for google are I think a way to show improvements in numbers.
Look at your desktop machine, people don't see improvements that are installed every day. they usually don't see improvements until they get SP2 or SP3 and then they notice what a POS something is.

The Epic 4g is such a complete fail. Ugh... I told a few friends not to get this phone when GTen was raving about it, I said wait until the next update before you upgrade your phone because at that time we were right in the middle of the version cycles. And now Samsung has broken promises of upgrading the device. smh.

That's like saying "don't buy a Ferrari because it doesn't have a stereo that plays MP3's". Official Froyo or not, the Epic is still the fastest, most capable, most powerful smartphone on the market.

What's the point of buying a Ferrari that can't nowadays.... it's 2011? But I understand your point, it's a great phone. I don't think it's the most capable, most powerful smartphone on the market however. The G2 is in the same sphere IMHO.. and CNET's and a few other sites.

The point is that Samsung failed to deliver which I knew they would do. It's a great phone but it's not supported well and that's why I advised people to wait until the next Android release. IF the Epic is the greatest, it's time is at an end.. and it still doesn't have the update. smh

Don't get me wrong. I don't plan on keeping it forever. I know people that still have the original iPhone (seriously?) I am already looking forward to what the next great thing will be. As a Sprint Premier customer I can get an upgrade discount once a year, so you can bet that in August I'll be looking to see what's at the top of the food chain. However, the Epic is the first phone I have ever owned that I am actually happy with now. When I got my TouchPro, I couldn't wait for the TP2, and when I finally got it I was tired of it and ready to move up in less than 2 months. I've had my Epic for almost 5 months now and I am still impressed with it. I agree that Sammy needs to step up and get some better support going, but we have a great dev community supporting it, so I don't really feel like I'm missing anything.

Who buys their phones from Sprint these days? I bought my Epic off craigslist back in November for $200. No contract and cheaper than Sprint at the time.

Just shop around. Sprint Samsung Epic 4G
