Re: Epic: FROYO Security Time out change

Go to settings and then security and look under select device administrators and see if exchange is checked in there or anything and uncheck it. That is for added security on some apps. See if that helps you out.

Re: Epic: FROYO Security Time out change

exchange has a policy that is pushed to your device. if you do that, you lose any data that is from the exchange server.

Re: Epic: FROYO Security Time out change

Thanks Musclehead84, but Revaaron is correct. Changing the security administrator effectively deletes the account.

It still didn't give me the ability to just create a different time out for this.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

No Lock works perfectly with my eclair. One user comment says it works on Incredible 2.2. Don't know about froyo though.

Thanks for the suggestion, but No Lock only allows me to either have no security (and no screen lock to save from inadvertent button pressing) or a full lock. I still really want to be able to have the screen lock after a few minutes of inactivity, but it seems that this may not be possible with this phone.

I will see if I can use No lock with Tasker to set up a delayed task or something, but that will have to wait until after the work day.

I tried that... and guess what... the Tasker built in screen lock is so easy to bypass. Try holding down the home button key and you should be able to kill the lockscreen... it's no-brainier since anybody can do it even if it happened by accident. So .>.> it's not reliable.

What we really need to do is to configure tasker to disable all hardware keys except the power button and somehow keep it locked until you input a password. and I'm still trying to figure it out... either it's not possible or maybe locale might help but that's the more expensive route to take.

I also have locale but need plugins and I've yet to decide which ones to get.

Re: Epic: FROYO Security Time out change

Eclair doesn't have policy PIN pushing.
Only Froyo.

Yeah, I haven't been able to get Tasker to accomplish this. Frustrating. This makes me not like the phone.

I am on dk28, but the eclair lock had the same problem and didn't allow for a time out. I hate having to put my password in every single time I open the phone, but I hate having an unprotected phone too. This thing has too much of my information in here.

I REALLY hope this is fixed in the upcoming(?) Froyo update.

Re: Epic: FROYO Security Time out change

I was commenting on the pin comment. a policy for PIN was not in the exchange support for 2.1, but is in 2.2

I don't think that time out like in the iphone will be there.

Yeah, I think I understood you. I was referencing the forced pin as well, but since there isn't a time setting on the security in either version of Android, reverting to Eclair isn't a solution. If I want security on my phone, there is no time setting. I know it's possible for Android since the HTC devices do this. Actually every other smart phone I have ever used does this. (HTC Apache, Mogul, Raphael, Pre, Blackberry and Treos).

I doubt it will be implemented as well, but I will hope.
