Thank God I got the Evo.... Unfortunately, my hubby has the Epic.

Not that I believe a damn thing Samsung says, but news worthy related none the less...

It doesn't get any easier than going to this thread [Stock Flash][Odin]Dk28 Extended 12/05/2010 inc. Root,GPS hack,Clockwork+Redir. - xda-developers

Step 1. Boot your phone into download by powering off your phone holding 1 on the keyboard and holding power til you see the little Yellow digger.
Step 2. On your computer launch the included odin.exe and select the included victory pit and under PDA select the included SPH-D700-DK28-Extended.tar
Step 3. Plug in the usb cable.(if it's done right you should see a yellow Com device.)
Step 4. Click Start and wait.

That's it. You've got DK28 Release and clockwork preinstalled, rooted, and ready to use.To get into Clockwork, hold Volume Down Camera and Power to flash your own rom.

I understand what your saying, but consider this...

How about we actually get for once what we paid for. Samsung is bragging how they sold over 10 million phones worldwide and picks and chooses what countries they want to support. That if I buy 2 Epics today, and spend $400 for the phones on top of, a $165+ monthly bill--even before, the per phones 4G tax, that with all that money spent, I still can't do via bluetooth what a 4 year old Sanyo Katana can do without manually modifying the OS in the year 2011.

See your already bought your phone and you're making the best of your situation, it really doesn't help someone that wants to upgrade but has no faith in Samsung to support their product or Sprint to dig in their heels to make them.

We still need the source code to be released for 2.2 to enhance the custom roms anyway, the DK28 is probably as good as the phone should have been released originally, and 5 months later (today) all the DK28 bugs should have been worked out and the phone really would be in near perfect shape.

Now Samsung is ready to announce the successor to the Galaxy S line next month and still hasn't delivered on any promises to it's previous line, why would anyone possibly give them another dime for the lame support we received from this phone?

And on that note, where the hell has gTen been? Normally he champions on their behalf, these forums have been dead as of late no new rumors, nothing new to look forward to.

Has Samsung/Sprint finally knocked the wind out of everyone's sails here??

Then, then need to provide a reason for the delay and state what their intentions are for future updates.

Frankly, the OPTION of updating plain Android DIRECTLY from Google needs to be offered ASAP.

They have proven they dont have to do shit...so those demands are pipe dreams...

How is GPS, call signal strength and the other things I heard about 6+ months ago when the phone was released.

I have a feeling that no matter how long they waited, or how much care goes into these updates--serious flaws will STILL be discovered within 24 hours of it being released.

I'm just saying, that's all! Prove me wrong Samsung--please...

My GPS and call strength have never been an issue...but yes others have reported gps issues...but the DK28 build seems to have remedied for quite a few...cannot speak for all...

I agree....if peeps are unhappy dont buy the shit ever again....it does not do you any good to come here and complain....spend your time telling them...myself i could care less when it comes...cause my phone flat out kicks ass with DK28...and was also great on 2.1....if i was unhappy...I surely would not spend my time venting here in the rumor mill....I would go to the direct source.it may not make much of a difference that way either unless a lot of people do it........but thats how i am wired...others want to come and complain here and read speculation....waste of time...

I've been in the hospital FML :(...but anyways..

As I stated before...I'm pretty sure its not samsung that is the cause of all the delays..did samsung take more then expected to get Froyo going..yes..BUT they definitely got it out before the end of the year all over the world..In the US carriers are king and the carriers care more about their "branded" phones over their none branded ones...

T-Mobile: MyTouch
Verizon: Droid
Sprint: EVO
AT&T: umm..iphone?

The carriers will push to make sure their brands get best treatment and advertising..but to them if they get you to sign with say a Vibrant..any guarantee you won't switch to the Captivate? or Fascinate? With the Galaxy S line effectively your paying for the network...and carriers don't like that..they want to have complete dominance on the consumer...

They can say w\e they ant but its obvious there is 0 reason at least the captivate and vibrant were not updated...so only possibility is the carriers :/

Gten got a ? for u. Since i didnt want to make another thread on the topic of tethering i thought i ask you here.

Question is i have my phone rooted and installed the wifi tethering which some what slow but it works ( if you have something that works faster let me know) the only thing is that the other day i didnt have internet connection to my pc through the cable company so i wanted to use my phone but my pc doesnt have wireless internet connection i connected the phone to the pc when i did a menu pop up asking what i wanted to do so i selected tethering mode then another menu said 3g tethered mode but if i select that its going to connect through dial up network mode which sucks but either way i selected that and it still didnt give me a connection. What am i missing? is there another app that can do this? This is way different than my tp2 but thats easier because its a windows phone. Let me know. TIA

There is builtin USB tethering if your using touchwiz based 2.2 but you gotta make sure your drivers are installed...otherwise a popular thing for USB tethering is PDAnet (free version HTTPS dont work but 4g works if you got it)

masetas 01-24-2011 11:56 PM

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; SPH-D700 Build/ECLAIR) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

phone is stock but rooted. So whatever touchwiz version was installed is the one that I'm using. Also isn't the method I stated above to tether the one your telling me. Oh yeah I have glass theme by 454supernova installed that might make a difference
