Not as far as I know...we have been using 3 different froyo leaks so far..:/

Re: has 2.2 official been released?

which froyo leak is the most stable, fast and has less issues.
Also do they come with touchwiz 3.0 or is everyone removing it.
Will the Froyo official come with touchwiz 3.0

I'm using the one from Mammon88 (devsforandroid).. it's smokin fast and comes w/ TW3, but I prefer Zeam launcher.

Gotta read the changelogs to see what's included or taken out.

Yes its TW 3..but the newer version.not the 2.5 one...

They a have their advantages and disadvantages..but so far they are all somewhat stable (at least for a beta)

neither one of them. the mini is just a smaller version suggested for lower end phones i think... neither browsers support flash but if you download 10.1 beta the difference between that and mini is the way they format the pages to fit the screen... face book look better in 10.1 beta.

Re: has 2.2 official been released?

The stock browser the phone comes with is slow compared to opera 9.7 on my tp2. Any way i can get 9.7 on here ive already looked at the market and its not there. Also what browser do you suggest thats faster and free of bugs

The version depends on the engine its based on..hence you won't find opera 1 on winmo..I think 10 is the first one for android...

I did a little breakdown on browser compatibility of a few browsers:

Quote:

Did an ACID 3 test for fun

Desktop FF 3.6: 94/100
Mobile FF: 97/100
Stock 2.1 Browser: 93/100
Stock 2.2 Browser: 93/100
Opera 10.1 Beta: 100/100
Desktop Chrome 7.0: 100/100

First one to get a perfect score :/

HTML 5 Test (out of 300)

Desktop FF 3.6: 139 + 4
Mobile FF: 207 + 9
Stock 2.2 Browser: 176 + 0
Opera 10.1 Beta:72 + 0
Desktop Chrome 7.0: 231 + 12

Opera does pretty badly on HTML 5 though :/

Mobile Firefox? I been having some problems with that browser loading slower than the stock or not loading at all.. I don't understand.. If it scores better than stock browser then why does it get poor feedback in the comments section in the Market?

What I was testing is web page compatibility to standards, not speed..but Firefox is still a beta..aka the pinch to zoom acts weird and a few bugs here and there.. once it gets out of beta though I think it'll be a great browser..

Though to note when I tested it, speed wise it wasn't much slower then stock :/

Also to note I think Opera and FF both use Hardware acceleration for zooming...making the Opera mini obsolete..

youngblack 11-28-2010 05:08 PM

You should include dolphin hd and x scope browsers in your test. I like the two of them equally better anyway.

gten another question for you, I set up my gmail account on it then when i open up to set up my contacts it had already sync with gmail which added my contacts which is great only thing is that it added all the names to whom ive have sent an email too as a contact now i have over 100+ names on there. What do i change so only the names that i want without having to actually delete one by one?

The way I got around this was to create a new contact group in Gmail when logged in on a PC. Then put all your contacts you want synced in that group.

Then on your phone, go to Contacts > Menu > Display Options > Your email account you want sync'd

Then uncheck everything except the new group you created in the step above.

We are talking about Sprint AND Samsung :P Put those two together and tack on about 2-3 months to the time it's supposed to be released :evil4:

Expect 2.2 around February

At this rate who knows when it'll be released officially. They might as well focus on Gingerbread.

Boy am I glad I swapped my Epic out for an Evo. I hate playing the waiting game.

why cant samsung just skip 2.2 and go directly to 2.3. Is there a rule that they have to do 2.2? I wouldnt mind waiting if i knew we were gonna get 2.3. the epic has the requirements for 2.3

No rule that I know of.

IMHO, I think manufacturers that have a knack for being late on promises probably shouldn't promise anything in the first place. I recall a mid Nov. upgrade to FroYo?

NO DICE! (unless you're in Europe I guess?)

Only some countries promised Froyo in november..Samsung themselves promised before end of the year...

Also we are skipping 2.2..to 2.2.1 ;) lol

I talk to both Sprint and Samsung almost once a week. Yesterday Sprint said they would release 2.2 in two weeks. Today Samsung said they didn't know when it was coming. I can't use my phone for bluetooth hands free dialing with 2.1 and it's driving me crazy.

If its driving you crazy, download a froyo beta and run it...

Download odin and dk17 and the wait is over. Mines is running flawless now. Gps locks in 3 seconds. Lag is gone. Its faster than 2.1. Battery is better. Dont wait, just root it and flash.
