wow really? custom dk28 roms are killer now that kernels are tweaked plus the gingerbread stuff and now the nexus got dumped so we have that to pick apart. midnight epic cook just put out a rom with nexus items cooked in but im dling it now so not sure whats there but gingerbread adds cool mods too. you can easily go back if its not for you.

I'll probably look into it when the official comes out. Just saw a lot of threads about problems with gps,email,sms, media hub, wifi tether etc.on dk28, and I have none of those problems on dk17!

I thought they needed the source code to edit the kernel, or do they have it now?

How old were those threads? The early releases of DK28 did have lots of problems, but they have pretty much all been fixed. I have been running the midNIGHT ROM for almost 2 weeks now and everything works. GPS is solid, email works (although I use K-9), SMS and wifi tether all work perfectly. Check it out and if you don't like it just use clockwork to restore your old one.

Not too old, just not sure why to go to dk28 when dk17 is working flawless.

There are some things that they fixed in Froyo that some people were having problems with in Eclair - mainly the GPS. But if everything on your phone works then there really is no reason to switch. Any changes would be mainly cosmetic.

Yeah, sorry, there are too many ways to say things. I meant to say that the big thing that DK28 was supposed to have fixed was the GPS.

Anyway, never mind. If you're happy with DK17 then stay with it. Unless you want to play around with the newer custom ROMs. I'm a flash junkie, so I flash every new ROM that comes out. But that's just me.....

Some people are claiming the delays are caused by the z4mod app and how it was easily able to root phones while being on the Android Market..:/ oreo

gingerbread is also here now and since it was dumped on xda it will be a rom soon plus we had froyo for weeks and rom im on now has nexus goodies cooked in so were good.

and my case was dismissed, all funds given back to me + Damages... Why do i need a stand alone Android device anyways, my TP2 does the Android stuff I want it to just fine.. ill probably wait for 2Ghz Android phones before I finally make the switch full-time..

and we all know having a port is not as good as the real thing.. Intercept got FROYO Offical before EPIC, and LG OPtimus is going to get Gingerbread Offical before EPIC even.. just saying, maybe you guys are over-hyping your phone a bit lol

Intercept is bunk.. Optimus is kind of only nice because GPU is same as the EVO, so gameplay isnt lost really..

All-in-all, most android devices can do anything another android device can do.. this is why Android is a solid platform IMHO..

And idk about #1 but EPIC definitely is one of the better devices around, despite the jokes Ive been making...

**and im not just picking on epic, i posted the FPS test in EVO forum that showed EVO getting beat by Optimus... they didnt like that very much lol**

The Intercept is stock Android and has been out longer..that said the Intercept can't even take advantage of Froyo's hardware acceleration :/....Right now samsung is done with Froyo 2.2.1 (not just 2.2) and its up to sprint...as for gingerbread..you cant exactly say LG optimus will get its upgrade first..we don't know..anything is possible..

That said we aren't over-hyping the phone..why? because the Epic is a phone we can actually recommend to friends without being full time support for..it works awesome stock and the hardware in the phone is still #1 today...

Anyone who wants Froyo can flash it without installing clockwork or rooting via stock recovery..

I don't go around forums posting trash about other phones >.> lol..but I can see how it could be interpreted that way...the only time I post about the epic on other forums is when someone mentions incorrect information about it or asks about it...just cause I am a mod does not mean I have the right to troll wherever I want >.> lol..I post there and here most of the time as a regular user..not as a mod..

Yeah yeah, sure it is. How many "official" release dates did we hear for the Epic back in August? Remember when it was "confirmed" that it would be released on August 5th? And then it was the 17th. I'll believe it when I see it.

Well to be fair Sprint said it would release by end of summer..and they did..last day of summer...this time they confirmed froyo by end of year...26th sounds feasible to me :/

I was just at a Sprint store yesterday playing with the Epic and the sales person said it had 2.2.1 already, pretty sad that I had to show them the version of Android on THEIR store phone...

Samsung before said they would update to Froyo the Galaxy S phones ebfore the end of the year...as for a link gimme a bit I gotta find it..

We have been flashing 2.2.1 with no issues to our phones...it might be a bug with Kies rather then the actual Froyo.

Oh, that quote...I thought it might have been a new quote, since someone named the 26th as the actual date. Didn't that comment also say that "some" carriers won't see the release until 2011 as well? I would think that AT&T and TMobile are more likely to see it by the end of the year since their versions are more based off of the International models than the CDMA versions.

I just tried the epic again and no wonder the epic beat the evo in top three phones list. I restarted the epic and it booted up in less than 40 seconds. It takes my evo at least a minute. Sometimes more. I'm really thinking of switching. I just love htc sense too much.

or you could just try Fancy widgets... I heard they are exact look a likes.. but I have Beautiful Widgets installed... there is a skin that you can apply to make it look like the htc sense clock. either way... if the port was made for one like the original it would just make your phone lag more.. This is close to as you can get for now since you can wait and not know what bugs might be the outcome after it's being ported..

Just remember... Htc and Samsung don't mix very well. Always remember that... ;-)
