i could always venture into porting the sense ui ..lol .. maybe once the tp2 is done.
Its not fully open..from what I hear the drivers are pre-compiled...thus making it harder to port custom roms from say an EVO, Nexus one and etc...for now we can only use Samsung roms as a base for roms..

Also depending on how things go we might need a gingerbread port..

Edit: Also..hummingbird has specs for playing back 1080p and recording at 1080p..so there are a few functionalities like this locked away.

Here is a documentation for the hummingbird:

Yes, they have 5 places for it (there is an initiative going to get it merged so some of the info isn't repeated)

The sections there are:
i9000 <- this is the original international version and most development is here
Vibrant <- 2nd on development
Captivate <- 3rd
Epic <-4th
Fascinate <-5th

yup in the order that it came out lol

Also there is a small Epic community on SDX (Its a site like XDA but for Samsung and they did development for the moment and now doing it for the Epic)

Re: Will The Epic 4G Get Android Version 2.2?

I used to try every rom on my tp2, saw the evo and almost pulled the trigger on it. when i went to the store, it was love at first sight with the epic. I played with it for 3 days and decided to upgrade my wifes palm pre to the epic. I only rooted my epic for the hot spot function but have come to find out there are alot more benefits. GO EPIC with out hesitation. take it from a die hard HTC TP2 guy.

Thanks, that is helpful. I am wanting to root my device, but want to wait until Froyo pushes out first.

Rooting is fairly simple 1 click of a button and unrooting is same..rooting also has not conflicted with an OTA update yet.
