Epic 4Gs experiencing slow upload speeds, Sprint says a fix is coming
Some Epic 4Gs experiencing slow upload speeds, Sprint says a fix is coming
Some of Samsung's Galaxy S devices in the U.S. have been having problems with their GPSs, and while Sprint's Epic 4G seems to have avoided those issues, it's having problems of its own right now. We received a tip from an Epic owner stating that he's had his uploads capped at 150 kbps on three separate Epics, and a forum thread over at Sprint's forums has similar reports from several other users. The problem has persisted even after the recent DI07 update. We reached out to Sprint about the issue and were given the following response: "We have heard reports of users experiencing less-than-expected 3G upload speeds with their Samsung Epic 4G. After extensive investigation, Sprint and Samsung have identified an enhancement that may improve upload speeds on the Epic. This fix will be made available in the next maintenance release. It’s important to note that network speeds are impacted by many factors when using commercially-available speed test applications and test results may or may not be true indicator of the actual network performance." There you go, Epic owners. We only have to wait for the next maintenance update to come along and cure our slow upload woes. Unfortunately, we have no idea when the fix will come but, considering the outcry from users on Sprint's forums, let's hope it's sooner rather than later. While we wait for the update to come, maybe you should just try to stay near a WiFi hotspot if you're going to be uploading anything. Thanks to Vince for the tip!

Re: Epic 4Gs experiencing slow upload speeds, Sprint says a fix is coming
You gotta take the good with the bad. I guess its my choice to put up with the customer service problems I get with Sprint rather than pay an additional $50/month to switch to Verizon or AT&T. And really, its not that big a deal. Most of the time my service is just fine, and when I need to upload something large, I just use wifi. Its not like I am uploading pictures and videos 24 hrs a day.

Re: Epic 4Gs experiencing slow upload speeds, Sprint says a fix is coming
Well I am glad to know that they at least will acknowledge the fact that there is something not right......I feel confident that an update will be sooner then lately simply because we've already had one update before 3 weeks of release so who's to say in another 3 to 4 weeks we won't have another one? I know the track records suck on both parties end but hey, Samsung looks like they are backing this phone as the Captivate just got a Gps fix 100 days into services, LOL. Here's to hoping for the best soon

Re: Epic 4Gs experiencing slow upload speeds, Sprint says a fix is coming
I'm watching to see how Sprint deals with this. I came thisclose to buying an Epic the other night, even though I'm only a year into my contract. However, after what I went through waiting for promised updates with both my Mogul and TP2 I am going to watch just a bit. My husband has an EVO and has been pleased with updates from Sprint so far. I just don't want to get stuck with another phone Sprint won't support.
