pull the apk out of another rom. It should be in either /data/apps or /system/apps. You can use something like Astro or ES file manager to "open" the apk and install it to your phone.

Re: [ROM][ACS] SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0 (Takiya) :: EC05/1.3ghz/NoCheckboarding :: 3
Is there any way to disable the "Sprint handsfree activation" from going on EVERY bootup? I'm using mine on Verizon (shhh don't tell anyone!), so even though my phone is programmed it wants to activate on every bootup.
EDIT:Took me a while but I finally figured it out. Used a terminal and removed "SprintAndroidExtension.apk". Was a pain in the ass. Last edited by TPMJB; 04-21-2011 at 10:45 PM. |

Re: [ROM][ACS] SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0 (Takiya) :: EC05/1.3ghz/NoCheckboarding :: 3
Hello!
I've done some searching on a particular issue and haven't found anything that matches the situation, so here goes...sorry if there's a better place for this. My roommate and I got Epics back in October of last year. Her phone had numerous issues and was traded in about 5 days after we got them. (this may or may not be significant). I flashed both phones with the Syndicate Frozen Rom on the same day a few weeks ago. About 2 weeks later, my phone died with an endless stream of Android errors (particularly hen trying to access phone features) and showed a blue no service sign where the signal bars should be. After an attempted reset, the phone hung on the Samsung screen. I had to trade it in for a new one... So, about 5 days later...yep, my roommate's phone did the EXACT SAME THING! Working perfectly fine..then all of the sudden...BAM! Brick! We had to replace her phone as well... So my question is...could the ROM have done it? (My old phone went through several roms...hers had been flashed maybe twice before going to Syndicate). I'm guessing we both had defective phones and the radio died (that's why the 5 days is important...her phone was 5 days newer....and died exactly 5 days after mine did). I seriously doubt it was the rom, but I'd like to know if anyone else has had this issue (or if your phone melted down after ~7-8 months regardless of which ROM you were using.) Thanks! |

FYI, if the phone turns on in any shape or form its not bricked...you can enter download mode and Odin back to stock.
Now here is what you need to note, Syndicate rom converts you to EXT4, with journaling off...when journaling is off you gotta know how to to take care of it or you can get data corruption. To enable journaling on synidate rom, after flashing the rom make a backup with clockwork and then afterwards restore the backup. I would also reinstall the default file browser(ACS removed it from the rom for some reason :/) as its tied deep into the system and when calls are made to it you get an FC. Lastly some people have issues with the Twilight kernel..at this point I suggest using Genocide kernel. |

Re: [ROM][ACS] SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0 (Takiya) :: EC05/1.3ghz/NoCheckboarding :: 3
Thank you for the response! I actually did try odin and set both phones (as they died) back to stock (they were DI18 when we got them). Restarting the phones after this still had a dead radio and the Android errors (specifically Android.acore or something like that) My first thought had been data corruption and figured resetting to stock would fix it.
As for the journaling thing, I hadn't thought of that as I (shamefully) haven't researched what that is, exactly :P Would that cause the type of corruption that would completely break the radio? (Regular, non-phone apps still seemed to work just fine...just anything that accessed the radio or trying to access phone settings kicked up the numerous errors) I'll definitely do some research into other kernels, as well! It was just odd that it ran perfectly for that short period of time then died. As further info, when it did boot up after reflashing to stock, it showed "unknown" under the baseband and hardware versions. I guess what my real question is...if I start flashing our new phones and it should happen again...has anyone had the same issue and is there a fix for it! ^_^ PS--According to the guy at the Sprint Store, they did have a few of the EC05 phones come back after the update....so it may have to do with that particular radio update. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback! I may just have to reflash and see what happens! (Though I'd like to avoid another $40 replacement charge! :P ) |
