The themes need to be flashed after the first boot. Not sure why that is but it's worked out well cause not everyone wants it themed. Your welcome to try though. Basically you open up the theme and copy the files over the existing fils in the rom.zip and then flash. I suspect you'll boot loop but let me know cause it would be sweet if you got it to work..... also make sure you are using 7zip.... Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk |

Re: [ROM] midNIGHT ROM v3.3 BYOR and Pre-Built AIO (VERY COOL) 2/14/2011
I've been so busy the last few days I haven't had time to mess with my phone. This morning I built a completely custom ROM. I added all the apps I wanted from your midNIGHT Extras folder directly to the ROM with 7ZIP, and then I added a few more like Astro File Manager, SDX App remover, ColorNote, and a few more that I regularly use. The next thing I did was go through the midNIGHT Theme 3.1 and copy everything one by one into their respective folders in the ROM. I am currently doing the last step.....backing everything up in both CW3 and MyBackup. I'm going to flash the new custom midNIGHT 3.3 today and I'll come back and let you know how it went. If this works the next step for me will be to get the .apk's for every app that I have, from Angry Birds to Zedge and put them in a folder so the next time there is a new release I can just drag them all into the system>app folder with 7ZIP and then I won't have to mess with reinstalling them or waiting for Google to do it.

I tried that with an earlier version and got the same thing. Then I tried to add the apps into my theme, and it boot looped as well.

I sent you a pm about this. This issue has been driving me crazy. ![]() I have built and rebuilt and it only works after the first boot. Maybe a permissions thing? Thanks for letting me know. |

Edit: Feeling like Emotionless Beast could be causing problem. More testing. Edit2: There is no problem with the rom or the theme, it's at minimum an issue with mms. Last edited by shane6374; 02-16-2011 at 10:09 PM. |

Re: [ROM] midNIGHT ROM v3.3 BYOR and Pre-Built AIO (VERY COOL) 2/14/2011
Since I’m one of the users of this rom that has been hit hard by the random restarts, I decided to play around and see if I could figure what’s causing them.
Well, I think I have it. As most of you have noticed, this happens primarily when using SMS/MMS. From the testing I have done, this looks to be caused by having 2 mms clients installed through recovery (zip method). So, if you install 1 mms client, and you decide you want to try something else, you need to uninstall the one you have previously installed (note that the stock mms that is in the midnight rom folder, the themed version included in the ACS themes, the 5mb MMS on XDA, and the bubble MMS on XDA cannot be removed once installed). You can install MMS apps on top of the stock installed app if you just install the apk through whatever apk installer you use (i.e. Astro), or you can use market apps. As far as people using ACS themes (Emotionless Beast & Mysterious Beast are the only 2 I’ve tried), what you need to do is remove the mms.apk from the system/apps folder in the zip. Edit: Make sure you install some version of the stock app, otherwise you will not get notifications. Here is how you fix the Swype force close issue. (for the people using EB, and other maybe some other ACS themes) To use the new version of Swype, which is included in the midnight extras folder, you need to remove the swype.apk from the system/apps folder in the theme’s zip before you install it, then you can boot into recovery and install Swype from the extras folder. Edit: Here is another Swype issue and solution that was posted over a xda today : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1249 If anyone finds anything I need to change on here PM me.
