Re: [ROM] midNIGHT ROM v3.3 BYOR and Pre-Built AIO (VERY COOL) 2/14/2011
Since I’m one of the users of this rom that has been hit hard by the random restarts, I decided to play around and see if I could figure what’s causing them.
Well, I think I have it. As most of you have noticed, this happens primarily when using SMS/MMS. From the testing I have done, this looks to be caused by having 2 mms clients installed through recovery (zip method). So, if you install 1 mms client, and you decide you want to try something else, you need to uninstall the one you have previously installed (note that the stock mms that is in the midnight rom folder, the themed version included in the ACS themes, the 5mb MMS on XDA, and the bubble MMS on XDA cannot be removed once installed). You can install MMS apps on top of the stock installed app if you just install the apk through whatever apk installer you use (i.e. Astro), or you can use market apps. As far as people using ACS themes (Emotionless Beast & Mysterious Beast are the only 2 I’ve tried), what you need to do is remove the mms.apk from the system/apps folder in the zip.
Edit: Make sure you install some version of the stock app, otherwise you will not get notifications.
Here is how you fix the Swype force close issue. (for the people using EB, and other maybe some other ACS themes) To use the new version of Swype, which is included in the midnight extras folder, you need to remove the swype.apk from the system/apps folder in the theme’s zip before you install it, then you can boot into recovery and install Swype from the extras folder.
Edit: Here is another Swype issue and solution that was posted over a xda today : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1249
If anyone finds anything I need to change on here PM me.
