There's one other thing we can all do to help get this ROM more publicity. Download the attached .txt file and then copy and paste its contents into your signature block on the User CP page. Its a custom banner that I made for the midNIGHT ROM and it links back to the first post in this thread. I posted this about 20 pages back, but its been awhile so I figure its time to bring it back up front in case anyone wants it.

(Its the same one that's in my sig - on the right)

Pretty close. Kinda rambled on the question.
I want the phone to wake up the screen and display a lockscreen that will have a way for me to navigate directly to the calendar reminder or SMS or email that triggered the reminder.

I have asked that same question before. I love the AOSP lock screen, but the stock lock screen gives you the option to unlock your screen directly to recently received text message. I would love to see that feature added to the AOSP lock screen.

And it should be extended to anything that causes an alert. Taking me to a status screen should be a "second best" way of getting to a generated alert, not the only way.

I can't figure out how this can be a stock feature going back 5+ years for other phone OS's but lacking on Android. My phone is a PDA first, phone second and entertainment device third. JMO

On my stock epic using TW..whenever I get a text message I just drag it down on the lock screen to the text message and it opens it directly....

Right, that's the stock Android lock screen. What I ( and apparently I am not alone) would like to see is that feature you just described added to the AOSP lock screen.

For stock..try WidgetLocker..its not exactly that but a good alternative.

Edit: here is a review of it:

Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.0.9 New Theme 12/23/2010

To be completely honest we just got the AOSP lock screen working. And really it's still broken. If you turn your phone on while the keyboard is open you'll see what I mean. I found some image files that are missing from the EPICS framework and passed them on to the guys that got this working in the first place. There going to look into it.

As far as the message alerts go I totally agree with you all. The problem is that it was never designed to do any of those things. As pointed out above the stock lockscreen will do that and the stock lock screen on the Fascinate does that as well and in a nicer way. Rumor has it the official release will drop on Sunday and once these guys get a hold of that we will see lots of amazing things that just aren't possible now.

I want to THANK all of you for helping to make this such a success. I can't tell you how nervous I was posting my first release.. Thanks for giving me something to do. Life is kinda tough and this is a nice distraction.... As of tonight this ROM has been downloaded over 1000 times. That is amazing to me. I've burned through about 150 GB of bandwidth...Thanks again...
