Sounds like suspending my account would only delay the seven months of service and I would still be responsible to either continue on for those seven months after I lift the suspension or pay the ETF. Sprint is gonna make sure they get it.....one way or the other!

Juggs' offer is probably your quickest solution. You will get your $200 for the ETF. Otherwise, you're locked into 7 more months of service. Just my $.02.

Sprint isn't going to let you out of contract for moving to an area that you don't have service. Not long ago, I moved to an area where I had no service at all and they refused to let me out of contract. I told them it's BS that they want me to pay for phone service that they can't provide to me. I called several different reps, departments, etc... and they said there is no way they can waive the early termination fee. They all told me the same thing... that the 'system' won't allow it. I think it's BS.
Your best bet is to sell it on ebay. Put it up on there with a .99 cent starting bid with no reserve (7 day auction) and I can guarantee you will get everything you want for the phone and then some. The reason for the .99 cent starting bid and no reserve is because it will draw a lot of attention to the auction and cause more people to bid on it/watch it. Come to the auction end and I'm sure the bids will go over $400. The 6800 is a 'hot' item right now so it will definitely have a bunch of people bidding on it. No need to worry about it selling for .99 cents. It won't. I've sold on ebay a lot and .99 cent starting bid auctions with no reserve are probably the best way to sell a popular item. Don't give your phone away for someone taking over your contract. Sell it, get the money, and pay the Early Termination Fee to Sprint and be done with it. You'll still have money left over to put towards a new phone. Good luck! |

That is BS that they're feeding you. Sprint used to cancel contracts if they couldn't provide service in an area you moved to. What you need to do is file with the BBB over this. You'll find Sprint will change their attitude because I know of many people who used and had their contract cancelled with no ETF.
They're going to try to 'deal' with you to get the BBB entry removed/resolved. Do the BBB first, sell the phone, cancel and pay ETF and when Sprint finally wants to talk to you tell them to sod off and that mark is staying because they won't call you tomorrow but like two months later over it. Make sure you document everything. Call in a few more times and get peoples information. Last edited by bushd; 11-02-2007 at 07:51 AM. |

when i first got in the military 5 years ago, i did'nt have credit, so verizon, sprint, cingular and the other cell phone providers did not want to give me a contract without at least a $200 deposit. when you are an E-2 fresh out of bootcamp that $200 is alot of money. well my mom decided she would get me a phone through sprint in her name and i would just pay the bill. worked out great because they had great coverage where i was getting stationed. they had absolutely no coverage where my mom lived in Texas, not even roaming. so about 3 years go by and i get engaged and my future wife and i decide to go on the sprint family plan together. it was just going to jump on her account. i called sprint after i changed the billing address back to my moms house in Texas and told them i had moved and since the account was in my moms name and there was no service in her area they were required by law to cancel the service with no ETF, the hardest part was 3 way calling my mom to have her verify that the change needed to be made. i hung up and 5 minutes later the service was off. dunno if they will still go for this now, but they should. give it a try.

If you still want someone to take over your contract, I have a friend that is interested in taking it over. He was thinking about getting a 6800 and going with sprint anyway. Send me a PM if you still want to do this.
