I'm fairly certain if you move to an area where Sprint truly doesn't provide service they have to let you out of your contract without charging you the ETF. Search places like http://consumerist.com

Are you serious? All I would have to do is take over ur contract? You don't want any money on top of that? Why don't you get the new phone, put it up on either this site or ebay, and pay the $200 fee. I don't know about here, but I have seen new Sprint Moguls on ebay go for almost $400. Just a suggestion. if you don't want to do that, send me the new phone and I'll make an easy $150.

Good luck on the sale. But u can just tell them you want to suspend ur contract. I think its $9 a month or free. I can't remember which one. But Im pretty sure it's free.

or ..." •Cancel without ETF By "moving" to the middle of the desert: This is an old trick, but the tipster says it works with Sprint. "Want to cancel but are stuck in a contract and don't care about keeping your number? Change your billing to e-billing (to avoid a paper statement), call customer care and have them change your address to an address not covered by the network (go on the website, find a hole, do a google earth search and find an address around there). Then say, "oh my, well if you can't provide service to me there, I'll have to cancel." Sprint is now obligated to cancel your contract without a termination fee because if they can't service you, how can they charge you for service? Usually they want to cancel your number, but you might be able to convince them that Company B has coverage and you would like to port." |

I've heard of them canceling a contract for this as well. You cant be forced to pay for a phone the provider wont let you use. They may ask you for some kind of proff taht your moving. The CSR will give you the same BS line. Ask to talk to someone higher.

Thanks for the input guys. I did call back and inquire about suspending the contract which costs $5.95 a month. You can suspend your account for up to a year. My 2 yr. contract was opened on 5/30/07 with the ppc6700. I bought a Mogul from Sprint a couple of months ago for $399 (so-called discounted price) after retentions got ahold me when I requested to cancel. So....as of 5 minutes ago...Sprint says that my 2 yr. obligation to them still ends on 5/30/08...but seems to me I remember the rep. saying something about an extended obligation for activating / switching a new phone on my account. If Sprint sticks with my end date of 5/30/08 it would only cost me about $42 to suspend my account and then cancel it on 5/30/08. Sounds to good to be true!
