Re: Anyone already pick up the Omnia II?

Alright, A weak with the omnia 2, and some findings are that the Media Cube is useless, and touchwiz still kinda sucks (and sloww), However This phone was worthy for the 30 dollars, so I installed spb 3.5 and the elegance package, and now it works really well.

It does seam to shred through the battery so that is a concern, but I'm a heavy web/media user. and I bought an extra charger for work.

I'm finding that a ton of the apps that are out for the GSM 8000 don't work on the I920, so hopefully some programmers will start porting the system with app to work. (It was nice using a fully matured platform like the omnia 1 because there where a ton of available apps and roms already ported.

I was referring to the mobile shell. I'm actually thinking about returning this phone, It seems that it as a veracious appetite for RAM only 140.69MB available, only running SPB 3.5 with touch wiz disabled, today disabled, 103.30 MB in use with only 37.39 MB free and it slowly clicking away needed a soft start every two days or so, become quite annoying

Sounds like you've still got something running that's eating up your memory. On a soft reset with just SPB Shell running I have over 60MB free and no need to reboot - ever.

Re: Anyone already pick up the Omnia II?

Given the choice between the Omnia II and the Droid or even the Eris I would choose the Android phones. The upside is much greater with those two as Google is actually doing things actively to make the OS better. MS just keeps putting off what they supposedly are going to put out and from what I have seen, it will be the same old OS skinned a little different. MS is quickly going to fall out of the Mobile Market place.

Another announcement of death. That has been going on for years and yet no one has been right.

I agree with DBlocker. I'm using Titanium with the WM7 theme, and I run with ~75-80MB free at idle.

Google and Apple want to exercise too much control over their devices. The only thing that MS cares about is preventing software piracy. Other than that, they don't care what apps we run or how we hack/tweak the OS and devices.

How is Google exercising to much control over their devices?

They undid the Google Maps hack which someone at XDA cooked up to allow voice nav overseas (outside of the US)
