Re: Anyone already pick up the Omnia II?

I'd really like to go get one but I think I'll let the price simmer down a bit, and let them work all the kinks out. Do you still have to remove the battery to swap out sd cards and is the usb/charger connection still proprietary or did they go to a mini or micro usb port? I asked the guy in the Verizon store about 2 weeks ago, but just like everything else, he didn't know.

Got it up and running, light years ahead of the original. you get the random have to extra push on the screen, nothing unmanageable though.
swype is freakin AWESOME!!!!. Synced right up. I think i am gonna run the touchwiz for a while, just for fun. It will resize wallpaper to fit on it's own.
love the task manager, it's a little clumsy in places, but all in all a good effort.

Re: Anyone already pick up the Omnia II?

I have had my omnia II for about 2 months now. I have been flashing the latest ROMS - last was IK5 - and it is a very nice phone.

Currently I am using RDG's IK5 'lite' version, and even with a lot of programs (S2U2, SPB Mobile Shell, Rescoe Keyboard, Clockworks, etc.) I still have about 50% of memory free. A lot of info about the Omnia II ROMs on MoDaCo. See attached pics.

Probably a dumb question but is the over seas Omnia II the same as the i920 released here? Must be differences GSM sim card?

I got mine midnight on the 2nd. Only paid 99.00 with ne2 and online discount.

I dont like big phones and it is about 1/4 inch bigger either direction. I do like the amold screen and the screen size though.

The GSM Omnia II is the GT-i8000, the CDMA Omnia II is the SCH-i920. There are some differences under the hood (256MB RAM vs 208MB RAM), differences in performance (the GT-i8000 doesn't manage memory as well as the SCH-i920), and exterior differences (location of headphone jack, number of LED flashes, etc).

Wirelessly posted (Omnia i910: Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50286; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

those ROM's will not work with the i920! don't expect any ROM's for it for a while. VZ will have to release an update for it to happen. and since it cakecame with 6.5 I think we'll be waiting a very long time.

You have to remove the cover, but not the battery to access the sd card.
The microUSB means it is no longer proprietary.
And . . they now have a 3.5 mm earphone jack.

I picked one up for my spouse and one for me last week. Getting accustomed to it now.
