Secondly if it is 6.1 then why isn't it out yet? If the answer to this is that the o2 needs to meet vzw's specs and it's taking samsung this long to make vzw happy then I feel it's safe to assume that 6.5 either won't happen or when it does then the o2 will be soon replaced by the next great phone. Look at the omnia, it took vzw until AFTER the news of the o2 coming to vzw to release the GPS fix....

Either way, VZW has taught me patience, I'll wait till it has 6.5 till I jump on the boat....That or I may just skip this one....
Come on, in the matter of a month I'm sure a wicked 6.5 rom would be cooked.

Highly unlikely. How many months was it before we had a custom ROM for the i910...

Samsung NOT Verizon controls the OS on the Omnia II...when all countries Have their version of the Omnia II released then the 6.5 ROM will be dropped...there may even be a GSM 6.5 ROM first, then a CDMA ROM...when Samsung (not Verizon) first announced the Omnia II they said it would be released with 6.1 then upgraded to 6.5...I don't know why this is such a problem for everyone when this was the case from the official announcement of the Omnia II...Verizon unlocking the GPS on the Original Omnia had nothing to do with the release of the Omnia II...and truthfully if you had the chance to check out Samsung Virtual emulator of the Omnia II, Samsungs UI covers WinMo so good I doubt u will notice weather it is 6.1 or 6.5...now I know some folks (my self included) will probably choose not to use Samsungs UI in favor of SPB MS3, but the official 6.5 ROM will not be far behind the release of the Omnia II...but if ur really hot about having 6.5, or if u think verizons version of the Omnia II is ugly...you can't go wrong with Verizons HTC Imagio...similar specs, and it has HTC vast support forums...right out of the box...

Sorry, but you are incorrect about this. Verizon must approve the ROM before it will be included on any of their phones. So Verizon controls what ROMs go on these phones.

Also, in some areas the Omnia II is dropping with 6.5 installed on it and other countries all ready have 6.5 upgrades.

That's not bad, I can survive with SPB until then.

Re: Image of Verizon Omnia 2

I know I've been out of the loop for a while but I still understand the basics. You can't cook a rom unless there is a rom to start with. I dug out my i760 the other day and realized how much crap the phone had on it that I never used. Same with the Omnia, only some one was nice enough to cook a basic rom, so the memory wasn't wasted on stuff I'd never use. Verizon is know for this type of bloat-ware. My omnia like many others runs nothing like the omnia I unboxed. Rom cooking has a similar effect to overclocking.
The flip side is that if the o2 ships with 6.5 then will there be a rom update? If not will we ever see roms? Also I could care less about if the o2 has 6.1 or 6.5, I'm interested in new custom roms. I will most likely use the basic 6.5 interface no matter what...touch wiz isn't going to justify the resources.

In the end it's all speculation. But optimally o2 will be released and with in a few months 6.5 will be released in form of a rom. That would be the best for our type.

My last post was to point out some discontinuity with what is supposed to be "facts"

Oops I stand corrected... either way, if it comes with 6.1 the 6.5 ROM won't take 5 months...

Re: Image of Verizon Omnia 2

Does anything think this is legit? I'm so getting pumped about the omnia 2 I was googling release dates and I came across this...

[[[[
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 09/30/2009 - 14:57.

I emailed the president of VZW and received the following message back. I will not list the actual name of the writer but it is legit. WME where did you get this info? Are you sure it is legit? I REALLY hope it is. I will wait until November for the O2 but NOT JANUARY! LOL!!
Message I received:
Nick,
Thank you for writing Lowell McAdam, President and Chief Executive Officer of Verizon Wireless. Mr. McAdam has asked me to respond to you on his behalf.
Normally, Verizon Wireless does not announce the release of a device to the public until it has been tested and approved for use on our network. I am told that the device is being tested and awaiting approval for the release but will probably not come to market until sometime early in 2010.
As for your inability to get this information from our Customer Service Department, normally these representatives to do know about devices that are in testing or plans to offer new devices until the formal release information is provided to them. This way, we can set our customers expectations accordingly. The release of this information normally does not occur until a release date is determined and training is offered.
Thanks for your interest in the Omnia 2. I hope that this information is helpful to you and that you can defer making your purchase until the Omnia 2 is released.
Sincerely, ]]]]]]]

Found it here http://www.wmexperts.com/verizon-omn...d-october-wm61

Frackin 2010, I'll be so pissed.
