Re: GPS SOFTWARE after ROM Upgrade

I drive quite a bit for my work and GPS s/w for driving is most useful when the orientation follows the nose of the vehicle, I haven't found any setting in Google Maps for this yet. Love the Google Maps sattelite view of route while driving, adds an easier recognition of unfamiliar areas. Will check other apps and rate as appropriate.

Re: GPS SOFTWARE after ROM Upgrade

I've been using TomTom Navigator 7 for about a month now and I love it. Both the CC20 ROM and the CF03 ROM will run it.

It has turn-by-turn voice directions, automatic rerouting, and will work in both landscape and portrait mode. The interface is intuitive, optimized for touchscreens, and I can see it clearly when I put my phone in its windshield mount. It will warn you if you're near a school zone or if you're speeding.

Unlike Google Maps, which continuously downloads maps as you go, you don't need an active internet connection to use it. Plus, it's customizable, even letting you create your own car symbol to replace the default blue arrow.

And the orientation follows the nose of the vehicle.

It works and you can download the i900 version. Just make sure when you get to the website to change your location from "International" to the country you reside. For me, I needed to change it to the United States, otherwise it didn't work properly.

Good luck!

You bought a used Omnia? You skipped listing your carrier. I don't think VZW sells an app competing with VZNav.

The website says no downloadable version. I'm not giving up my 16GB µSD.
