Re: exchanging broken flashed omnia
Cross your fingers and hope VZ releases the official ROM soon?
You could flash it back to the originally-leaked ROM and take your chances, but I'm not sure they wont check the OS upon return. Yours being a physical issue, they might not check, I suppose. |

Re: exchanging broken flashed omnia
Flash to the CC20 ROM and they will not be able to tell. It looks and acts just like the original.

Re: exchanging broken flashed omnia
Hey-
I bricked my phone and called Verizon and told them I flashed the ROM and they said that voids the warranty. So then I called Samsung and they said as long as the phone was not opened and has no physical damage it was still under warranty. I was very specific when I asked "So no matter what software I put on it including flashing the ROM it is still under warranty" and the answer was yes. They emailed a ups shipping label and I had my phone back in about two weeks. Hope this helps. |

Re: exchanging broken flashed omnia
My phone stopped working (it would boot but would never reach the Today screen) after I had flashed the CC20 beta ROM and Adrynalyne's 1.4 ROM. I took it into my friendly Verizon store and they replaced it.
Did I brick it? I don't think so, and I suspect that it was trashed by a static charge (it spontaneously reset when I connected the USB cable). In some ways I was lucky because it would never get past the Verizon startup screen. If it had gotten into Adrynalyne's boot logo it would have been obvious to even the slowest VZW employee that I had flashed the ROM. Since mine would never get past the Verizon startup screen, short of doing some kind of RAM dump I don't that there's any way that they could tell I wasn't running the stock ROM. Incidentally, if you've flashed to the CC20 ROM can't you tell that it's not the original ROM by going to Start/Settings/System/Version? Mine says "N/A" for ROM Version. Don't phones with the original ROM say something different?

Re: exchanging broken flashed omnia
I did that with my 3rd Omnia about 1 month ago, i have had no issues from Verizon regarding it. I actually called thier customer service and asked if they knew what was wrong with my phone, they said they couldnt find anything and that it was being sent back to samsung to be checked. I have had no charges to my account for a insurance claim, so all is good and i have a working omnia again.

I have an issue with my Omnia with the origenal Verizon ROM, I haven't flashed it yet, but the pone was acting up.
It works fine and out of the nowhere I can't dial any number manually or from my contacts. the phone display an error message that the number is wrong or I have no service. that would happened when I have service in a location where I always have good service and the number is correct. The only way to fix that is to reset the phone then it would work fine at the same spote with the same number. Anyway long story short, I called tech suport about 3 times everytime they try something new, soft reset, hard reset, battary removal, manual programming, *228, ...... Today I was on the phone with a data support person for about an hour, he asks question then go consult with other tech support and come back with more questions. He asked about the ROM ver., H/W version, .... then a woan came and asked me to wait when the phone acts up again and run right away to Verizon store to show them that error (LOL) as that, according to her a never reported error for the Omnia. After I explained to her how redeculas is her idea so agreed to send me a "like new replacement phone". By the way I called my local store and they stated they have no Omnis to change my phone they only have them for new contracts. Just sharing my horror experiance trying to replace my phone with the origenal ROM, God only knows what they would have done to me if I've falshed with something else????
