Best GPS Navigation system for Omnia with unlocked GPS

So with the new i910 Gps unlocked, i thought i would start a thread on some of the best GPS software out!


I will be testing the U.S. Versions of these software, and please dont ask where to find them.

But if you need a headstart ---> HERE YOU GO

Alright so this is what i have installed so far:

Garmin Mobile XT - with the basic worldmap and 2009 North American Map

Igo 2008 - Now with North American Maps installed

This is a list of Apps i need to install: (i have not heard of some of these, so this is new to me)

*Tomtom CURRENTLY HAVING TROUBLE.... SAYS CAN'T FIND MAPS... IM PRETTY SURE THEY ARE ON THERE
*Route 66 - PROBLEM WITH THIS AS WELL.... AT LEAST 1 FILE IS MISSING? (GEE THANKS)... I HAVE AT LEAST 1 MAP ON THERE, BUT STILL LOOKING AS WELL!

*If you can help me find a link to get some of these that would be nice.... idoctorblog@yahoo.com

i prefer amaze gps because of the voice directions (i havent tried yet on the omina however)

I got TomTom 6 to ghetto-work on my Verizon Omnia by flipping the phone to landscape mode, and then only with the beta rom. It does not play well at all with the stock rom. Even now, the TomTom screen is almost doubled on the display, since it doesn't support the Omnia's resolution. There is some screen fix utility in this Omnia forum, to scale the resolution, but that does not work at all with TomTom.

I have TomTom looking perfect on my phone but it can't detect GPS. Are there specific settings? It works for me on Google Maps.

I just got the iGO Amigo software last night (instead of version 8.0, it is now 8.4) and so far I like it. Needed to get the right skin for the omnia resolution, but it works great now.

Haven't gotten to use it that much yet, but it is nice. full screen map instead of the way igo was with all the stuff around the sides. Plus it has lots of extras in it (games, media viewer) Lots of POI, and you can change the icon (the arrow that represents you) to a car, a guy on a bike, mack truck..lol.

zfly9- Make sure in TT7 you choose the right settings for GPS. It's NOT "Built in GPS Receiver", but I chose "Other NMEA GPS Receiver" Baud Rate 57600, Comm Port 8. It works great!!!

You have to select wired GPS, and set the com port to 8 and baud to 57600. How did you get TomTom 6 to work nicely on the Omnia?

When you select the GPS type, don't use the internal; use the NMEA one. Set the com to 8 and the baud to 57600. Mine works on the new ROM with these settings. Good luck.
