Re: Beta rom

Hard reset only touches device memory unless you specify otherwise.

I even took one guy's advice who said to go in and change it to 911 Only, save, then go back and change it to Location On, save, and then try it again. It just doesn't work for me. Oh well, hopefully they will release the official update so I can at least get my vz nav back
Solange lemme ask you a question, after you flashed to the beta rom, did you manually re-install all ur programs and change ur settings? or did you restore a back up after you flashed???

Solange,

Where in Miami are you?

Maybe we can get together and put the phones side by side and try to figure it out.

I'm in the Dadeland Area.

Call me and maybe we can meet up.

(3XX) 542-1014 (Miami area code).

It's probably going to end up being something silly. My press and hold wasn't working for the camera or flashlight buttons and it turned out to be that I had set the "repeat delay" setting in the buttons control panel to "max". As soon as I lowered it the buttons started working as they should. (after racking by brains for two days trying to figure out why they had stopped working).

How funny, we are practically neighbors! I live in Pinecrest, and work in downtown Miami near AA Arena. Today I was driving home from work, I go through the grove instead of on US1, and I was trying to use Amaze (I think that is what it's called) but didnt pick up anything. But yesterday, I was using google maps on my way home, and it activated. After I got tired of Amaze today, I tried google maps, but no dice today.

Pdub, I actually had all my cabs saved onto an Sd card, so I just went ahead and redid everything manually. I didnt do a restore or anything. I may just try a hard reset tomorrow and see if it helps any.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions, regardless of the GPS issue I still love my phone

well the reason I asked you is because, I did the same and this could be a coincidence but it may be why our GPS refuses to work, most everyone that has restored their files and setting from a back up seem to have GPS working fine...

I found a way to look at the registry from my back up prior to the rom update but i'm still comparing things I will let u know if I find what differences (if any) are causing the GPS to not work...

I live in Miami as well I wonder if that might be it...lol...I doubt it though...

That is definitely possible Pdub. I didn't know you were in Miami too lol. I would think it's the area if Sofladavid wasn't telling us his was working. Let me know if you find anything in that registry, Im willing to try anything at this point..

Edit: Crap, I just saw David's post, I guess that might not be it then.

Re: Beta rom

I just want to add my 2 cents here. I updated my rom and everything works great except GPS. I did a clean install - i.e. no backup/restore. Google maps connects to the GPS but never receives any satellite signals. The GPS in my car works fine so it's not location. I've tried everything in this thread and the results are the same. BTW, google maps can connect no matter if I set 911 or location on, just no signals.

Re: Beta rom

If you have it set to 911, it will not track you.

If you have it set to location on, com 8, baud 57600 in gmap settings, and STAY IN ONE PLACE for ~10 minutes outside, it should lock.

First lock after a hard reset takes the longest.

Re: Beta rom

I did the rom flash and installed all my apps manually again. I always do that after a rom flash (got used to it with my xv6800). Gps works fine for me. However...

I can't use port 8 and 57600 in gmaps. I have to use the intermediate driver. When I try to use the port setup, I get the same flaky results that other people are posting about. I learned this on the first day of playing with it. Since then, I've used the intermediate driver, I wait for about 2 minutes for the satellites to connect, and I'm good. Works everytime.
