Re: Remote Desktop
boolieman
I use VNC to connect to my Vista box with my HTC Titan. VNC requires 2 parts. The server piece to run on your Vista PC and the client piece to run on your phone. There are many differnt VNC products to choose from. After much testing of various brands here is what I found to work the best: PC = RealVNC server running in legacy mode. Phone = Mocha VNC client. Neither are free but they work well.... pleasestirme

Re: Remote Desktop
I don't know much on the subject but I've read enough that the simplest way (and free) is to use logmein.com. I only use occasionally when necessary but it does the trick.
I've yet to read of anyone being able to explain or help someone get the supplied Remote Desktop feature to work. But that's just me. |

I use RDP from my Diamond all the time and I love it. Using a thrid party is just out of the question for me. There is one caveat when trying to rdp into a vista machine. If you are running Vista home Premium or whatever, RDP has been removed. Follow the instructions here to get RDP working on Vista: http://www.unet.fi/fransblog/2007/08...-home-premium/ Once you get RDP working it's just a matter of launching the RDP app on your phone and plugging in your Computer name or IP, your username and password and it works like a charm! Hit me back if you have any issues getting it working. Forgot one thing, if you are behind a router and your ISP gives out dynamic IPs you will have to setup ddns on your router. Re: Remote Desktop
I've used Logmein with my old xv6700 and that worked pretty great. I haven't tried on my Omnia yet.

Re: Remote Desktop
Here is a thread in Treo 800W - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=54829
I found a free RDP program at - http://andrewblock.net/?p=85 It works great - it is very fast. There are some things I would like to see added, like launching IE when it starts up, and saving User Name & Password (and Domain) with the login IP or DNS name. But I he used it with good results on my servers. SoundFX |
