Re: Mass Storage/Active Sync Transfer & Play Back Problems

OK...I'll re-install it and give it a shot, I liked the the look of it, but it didn't really seem all that much better than the WM player. Anything you can think of that puts it ahead of WM?

This situation is beyond ludicrous now. I tried a standard back door to my transferring problem. I sent a 400 mb file via blootooth. The bluetooth was a bolt of lightning for the for 50 mb's. Then it slloooowwed down considerable. It took from 5:30 am to 11 am to complete he transmission.

But wait, there is more.

Ok, after I finally got it on the phone and tried to play it it was choppy in TP and WMP. I t jut is not working for me no matter what I do. I have not been able to watch a movie on this phone, that I transfer, since I got it 3 weeks ago.

Anything I download is great (although I with I could spreed that up as well).

Here is the puzzling part. Because I don't have an new computer there is no high speed port. When I connect the phone via cable to transfer I can NOT take advantage of the "Enable advanced network Functionality" option under USB to PC setting. The phone will not auto sync or connect with this enabled. I have to leave he button unmarked.

I don't know what functionality is lost because of this, but like I said before, with the other phone I took back, I did not have any of these delays or video playback problems.
Hey guys...I tried this...I have "Death Race" an AVI file 700mb I tried to copy and paste it from My laptop to the "my storage" directory it started out ok...but 20 mins later Vista was showing the transfer time remaining as increasing....so then I tried to put it on my storage card...and 5 to 10 mins later is was on there plays great...no lag...very crisp and clear...

so I said lemme try to put it on the "My storage" first I tried with the phone default explorer, OMG what a turtle...so I tried it with the Resco explorer and after 20 mins it got to 51% and my phone was boiling hot...so why do we have 8gigs of internal storage if I can't put anything on it!!!!

On another note i would try tcpmp or core player, and see what results you get.

If i take this phone back it will be my 6th, yes 6th Omnia in less than two months. I have not been able to sit back yet and try and take advantage of the shells, apps and other hacks and tricks on this board becasue there is always something wrong. I don't want to do anything new and not know if it fails its because I screwd up or the phone was already messed up - again.

Have you tried the same experiment on another PC/laptop to see if it was your computer or the Omnia?

Just curious though....angel12 and Adrynalyne....I tried CorePlayer ant it couldn't play in landscape...was there a setting that had to be changed, or did I just get a bad file in there somehow?
Ok, tell me what you think. As I have chronicled transferring files to the Omnia from my computer is "snail going up hill facing an avalanche" slow. This morning as a test I transferred a coulpe of videos I downloaded directly from the internet to the Omnia to my PC. Lo and behold not only did the movies transfer in a decent timeframe, when I tried to play them on my PC they were flawless.

So I am a bit baffled why it works in one direction well and not the other. I am thinking at this stage it is my computer...but I am still scratching my heasd as to why.

Video quality, and the amount of formats it can play.

That right there is why I use my storage card for large videos and music, and my 8gb for storage and apps.

I'm a bit baffled as well, all I can think of is the Omnia, being newer and more up to date is transfering files in a faster, purer way, while the PC, being older and slower can't send at a speed and quality the Omnia needs for pure uncorrupted video.

I would still try to have a video file on a friends computer and transfer it to your Omnia. I am thinking your right in thinking it is the PC and not the Omnia.

P.S. Adrynalyne...maybe I'll give CorePlayer another shot...thanks. I just hate paying for something if it isn't any better than what is already on the device!!

I will try it. If it were not for he fact that I have seen this process work already, with a previous Omnia, and this computer, I would not be so stubborn and confused as I am. I really hope it is a mater of the computer. I am getting a new laptop next week.
